Beginning a New Lifeby karmatComment: I like the dark negative space on the right - adds nice balance. Colors are nicely muted. Probably more of a mature rather than new example of the species, though. |

Eye was framedby jdannelsComment: I'd say it did a darn site better than 5.4 - thanks for including a detailed explanation, even if I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about. Fascinating that this is water, not ice as I (and many others) assumed. Extrememly creative - really like the DOF used and the fact you are NOT in focus. |

Look, Mom!by nards656Comment: I swore I commented on this one in voting, but apparently not. What may have hurt the score on this one is no apparent "jump" though if you ask me, jumping out of the tree is implied. The reds in the tree and shirt are nice, but the sky looks a bit oddly colored - sort of a gray/green rather than bluish. I do like the "open" space to the lower right - it encourages the idea that a "jump" is about to take place! |

Leafby sabphotoComment: An underrated photo in a highly competitive challenge. This is the kind of thing I like to do, too, but you've done exceptionally well with the delicate lighting to bring out the finer veins in the leaf. |

Dualityby neophyteComment: The reflection of the second bike and lack of other distracting reflections is what made this one stand out to me. About the only thing I can offer to make the shot "better" is to try a little less sharpening. Good job! |

A "Light" Weaveby dolphnz8Comment: This is an underrated picture but I suspect that's due to the fact the competition was quite fierce in this challenge. It's a good overall "texture" picture but it is lacking a "subect" to draw our eye so to speak - that's not necessarily a bad thing but probably does hurt overall scores in these challenges. |

It'll be OK honey....by dolphnz8Comment: A very sweet moment caputured here. I agree with you that it's cropped just a wee bit close, but just a wee bit. I do like the composition even though his ear is very nearly centered and that probably violates all sorts of "good photo" guidelines - works for this shot very nicely! |

Frozen Beverageby spistoleComment: I see you got some good comments as far as the technical aspect of the picture - I do like your choice of subject matter for the challenge and I kinda like pictures on the darker rather than lighter side. This is a very good entry for your first - welcome to the insanity - hope you keep it up! |

Ambitions a size too bigby tinky2Comment: This is a MARVELOUS example of a candid, from your choice of subject to the expressions on their faces. Great shot on it's own and a very appropriate shot to this challenge - congrats on an excellent finish, too! |

Cherub Unawareby SandyPComment: Sandy - your people pictures are always wonderful. The lighting, the color, the clarity are all above average for a candid shot, and those eyes REALLY get your attention! Nice work, as usual! |
