Holy cow - what a set up! I was wondering how you did this. This was far and above my top pick for the challenge for the sheer audacity of it. And you did it really, really well. Hopefully you don't want to use those wheels anymore... VERY nice shot!

OMG, this is priceless! I love this shot! First, the photographic comments - it's clean, well lit, nicely balanced light-wise (good choice using tungsten) and nicely balanced compositionally, too. I even like the pale yellow border that echoes the line/moulding of the tub wall. Second - the self-portrait part - this tells me that you have one heckuva sense of humor and a sense of just plain fun! Awesome job, David!

Pretty durn clever! I love the idea of the glow in the dark stars to find your spot to stand on. I'd figured out the member number thing - also very clever. I appreciate you including the original shot and the info on all the post processing - it's very interesting to see just how much that adds. In this case, it gave a richness and depth to the picture, in my opinion. Finally, as a self portrait it tells me you're a fun-loving, quirky kinda guy with a great sense of humor.

This is a very clean, crisp, well-executed shot, but moreso it's a very good portrait. The choice to highlight the tattoos and use a knife rather than a conventional shaving device seems designed to tell a lot about the subject. The catchlight on the single reflected eye is perfect. Lighting overall is perfect for this shot, especially how you managed to keep the background in the reflection dark. All in all, an excellent self-portrait and though it scored well, I think it should have scored higher.

The first impression that comes across is one of serious intent. The lighting works very well, though I'd have liked just a touch more on the left to see just a bit of the other eye. The framing and angle of your head works perfectly, and I like the way the V in the jacket echos the V that's formed on your forehead. I also like the subtle gradation on the background color, which adds depth. Very well done!

I liked this when I came upon it in your portfolio, but I think that one was in B&W? I think I do prefer it in B&W. I like the us of the negative space - that plus the expression adds a touch of mystery. The softness in focus may have been what you were going for, but a bit more crispness on the face and especially the eyes would really add to this picture.

I didn't vote in this one, but probably would have given it a 5. I like the idea, the expression, and I really like the fact the hand is blurred to show the motion of shaving. It's the technical quality that probably lowered the vote. The picture has a lot of color noise, it appears. Also, when doing people, it's nice to get some more light on the eyes if possible.
