Focus is nice and sharp! I'm gonna have to say he doesn't appear to be flying, but rather just sitting on a piece of glass - hence, not quite what's being looked for in this challenge. Also, he's rather centered with nothing much else in the frame.

Pretty good shot considering how hard it is to catch these guys in flight! Would have been better if he'd been a bit more in focus and not quite so close to the top of the frame.

Good job of stopping the motion. A bit flat as far as color/contrast; line running along the background detracts a bit.

Very good setup - good background items without being too busy. Nice job of stopping the motion. Not sure I like the use of selective desat; in color it might be good for a stock photo.

Dang, nearly died laughing reading the commentary! And your dad owns a bowling alley but can't bowl? Oh, and I want some credit for setting this idea in your head (see "2 second challenge"). As for the picture - I think it's very well done. Good color (which is hard to get in bowling alleys), great lighting (equally hard) some stopped motion with some motion blur, good angle. Not sure I would have liked the dead-on one as much, despite the pain you went through to get it. All in all, I think this worked out well. May not have been as "exciting" as some of the higher ranked scoring shots due to subject matter. And I'm sure you're more glad than anyone that the potential collision mentioned did NOT occur.

And how did you keep the board and the gentleman from landing on you? Nice perspective and love the accompanying documentary shot from Pawdrix.

Wow! Nice of you to stop by, enter a challenge, and score over a 7. :-) Your wife should get bonus points, too, I might add. Looks like you had a great time shooting, though! So what makes this shot work? Probably the key thing, imo, is that you can see, very clearly, the expression on his face. After that, there's very good adherence to the rule of thirds, good color, and the stopped and not quite stopped motion. I can't see anything to suggest to make it "better". Great shot, great score!

Sometimes there's just no good explanation for a score - I didn't vote in this challenge but it would have been at least a 6 from me, probably a 7 for the creativity. Nice color in the background with the red/white/blue theme, and I really like the action of the board. You did indeed keep the board itself is sharp focus while moving the top and using a 1/8 sec shutter speed! Composition is fine, exposure is very good. I think the only thing I find somewhat detracting (and I'm not sure why) is the sleeve of the sweater and maybe the white part on the left that's "growing" out of the sleeve. Really a clever, well executed shot.
