I see you staked out a location and waited for the appropriate shot. Very good idea! Perhaps a bit off in the execution in that you'd want your bag lady (not just the sign) to be a bit more in focus if possible (though I do realize HCB didn't fret focus as much as DPC does). And given the lighting there, maybe shoot a third or half stop under? Love the reflections, though. Makes for a richly layered photograph. A location worth revisiting.

A very good moment caught! Not just the kiss, but the smile on the woman with the glasses, and the back turned of the guy in the hat. One wonders if he (the civilian in the hat) realizes he can't get the girl, but he'd been holding out hope until then....

This could be just an average everyday shot if one skips by too fast. But there's the guy with his butt in the air doing who knows what - and no one has noticed. The guy with his head in his hand, wishing he were elsewhere. The woman next to him, wishing she were someone else. In my often monochromatic opinion, this would work better in B&W. Not just because it was how HCB worked, but because it would kill the yellow smiley (even though you feature it in your title) and the orange cone across the way - the only two bits of color I'm not fond of here. The smiley would still be there, but more subtle...

Now THIS is a wonderful "in the style of" or homage to Monsieur Cartier-Bresson. A simple moment in time. Busy. But oh so serene when one joins in with the foremost subject, who in her mind, appears to be all alone there in her chair, soaking up the rays, the grass, the air - enjoying the silence, though it probably isn't silent... So serene. But there are other stories, too. Where do the chairs come from? Are they first come first served? Do people bring their own? What's to the left, the direction several of the others are looking to? And all done in a very classic feeling rich B&W.

This appears to be posed. Not to say that HCB didn't pose people - he did do portraiture, I believe - but this appears to be posed to be an HCB-inspired kind of candid capture, or something like that. I could be entirely wrong. Women may hold books like that, sit in long dresses under signs tha say Ladies Waiting Room while looking at their watches... :-) But to me it appears to be posed, and because of that lacks impact.

This makes me smile. Very nice catch - espeically the uptilt of the dog's head, the distance of the man reaching to pet him, as though he's a bit unsure of the animal's friendliness or of invading the space of the woman on the other end of the leash. Speaking of the woman - she's not involved in the moment at all. It belongs to the dog and the man. Yet having her in the frame is essential to show the disconnect. Nicely seen, great work with getting it right with the camera - no edit needed here.

Nice contrast of the kayak and the person against the backdrop - and nice catch of the water off the paddle. Not exactly what I'd consider an HCB-esque shot, though I'm not an expert at it either.

I think this might be one of those situations where our friend Henri would have hoped for more "action". A rather common and plain situation for the most part (other than "boys versus girls" as far as seating choice.) Minimal means you can't fix flat lighting (I know - I had the same problem) but editing can't add a story that isn't there either.

A nice trilogy here. Interesting that you caught the cigarette glow so well, and I feel sorry for the guy with the giant dot on his head (a shadow, I'm guessing.) Then there's the almost kiss just beyond.
