Although the textures and lines of the surrounding paving and bin are interesting I think I'd prefer to see a closer study of that fascinating texture within the main subject - I'd like to see an image zooming in on that detail. |

The sound of Silenceby RegoComment: Whilst I do sometimes like the mood that harsh lighting can add to an image, I think it's overdone in this case. I do like the composition - the angle of his face and finger and the cropping choice work well. |

When they're gone...by tammyComment: Conveys emptiness, solitude, a quietness that is full of sorrow rather than peace and relaxation. Black and white definitely enhances that perception. The textures of the wood, metal and ground are nicely captured. |

Rue De Calvaireby glimpsesComment: I really like the mood of this image, created by the lighting and the reflections of it upon damp stonework. In terms of composition it's the right hand side that holds all the interest for me and I prefer the image overall once a good third or more of the image has been chopped off from the left. |

Silence for Dummiesby jonpinkComment: Nice idea... the lighting seems too strong though - I would prefer if the clear handle was more firmly defined by light/ shadow. Would also prefer if the pacifier were either more accurately centred or more obviously off-centre within the composition. |

Breathtaking Landscapeby instepsComment: The leading lines and patterns of the clean white stones are very striking. The composition feels balanced by the position of the tallest tree off to one side, weighted further by the fir next to it. The sky has enough texture to add interest. Black and white really enhances this image. |
