Masterful capture. Lighting, subject, content, quality and interest are all top notch. Everything about this image is good. It is one of my personal top three picks for the challenge. Much better than the score would indicate.

I got it too, made me chuckle. As the mother of three, two of which used these(does that make me dumb?) :), I can appreciate the title and the well shot photo.
How about cropping to make square?

Very strong photo. This should have done better. "Dummies" in the title threw me a bit. Nice work

Very great idea. The background, focus, color, and DOF are great. I love how the clear ring melts away. I do not like the spit on the nipple though. nice touch, but will put people off.
03/09/2004 06:59:42 PM
I could have done without the drool.
03/09/2004 11:57:57 AM
very very nice, the spittle is a great addition.....8.
03/09/2004 07:10:56 AM
I'm sure if you just pulled that out of the kids mouth, there won't be silence at the moment ;-)
Nice shot. Not sure if I like the dribbel on it.
03/08/2004 09:29:38 PM
Can't imagine the relationship between the title and the image. Are babies dummies? I hope you don't think so! Picture is so-so but not much to keep looking at. Framing is nice.
03/08/2004 03:46:37 AM
I like the idea, and sharp colors. nice
03/07/2004 10:55:52 PM
Funny!
03/07/2004 09:21:30 PM
Very Nice definitely different then most of the others I saw.
03/07/2004 01:49:57 PM
Perfect, Great fit to theme, colors are amazing, perfectly lit, sharp all over, a bit of saliva, the baby is asleep now. 10

Nice idea... the lighting seems too strong though - I would prefer if the clear handle was more firmly defined by light/ shadow. Would also prefer if the pacifier were either more accurately centred or more obviously off-centre within the composition.
03/07/2004 04:26:40 AM
10.. Probably this weeks winner, top three at least.
03/07/2004 03:08:34 AM
a little to hot.. but nice
03/06/2004 03:46:14 PM
My personal favorite of this challenge... probably because I have 4 kids and know what a binky means... 10
03/06/2004 02:25:23 AM
I like this idea but was a bit grossed out by the saliva on the nipple.
03/05/2004 11:45:39 PM
Great concept.. well executed.
03/05/2004 11:33:30 PM
It IS all relative isn't it? One family's silence is another's worry...
03/05/2004 08:10:01 PM
Great photo, but isn't it quieter when in use? No matter, if it is quiet enough for you, it is quiet enough for me.
03/05/2004 07:01:58 PM
Color is just .......well is yummy! Nuk Nuk......never leave home with out it!! Two for back up!!! lol Love the clear, cleaness of this.
03/05/2004 12:00:55 PM
Fits the challenge perfectly. What drives us to silence?! BOL Silence for "DUMMIES" though? For some reason that bothers me. But that is me.
03/05/2004 07:21:01 AM
mean spirited
03/05/2004 04:15:34 AM
You know, I actually thought of doing this - and I'm glad I didn't because I just know it would not have looked half as good as this. Also the wife wouldn't buy me one in case I got ideas and tried to shove in the cats mouth. the colour, detail, composition and focus is brilliant. I was going to give it a 9, but upon seeing the spit all over it won my heart over completely - so it's a 10.
03/04/2004 08:51:42 PM
Yeah... I remember those days. Nice lighting on a difficult prop.
03/04/2004 08:15:03 PM
Very original and interresting silence concept. Sharp and clear picture. Not sure about the dribble... -8
03/04/2004 07:27:08 PM
WOW !! I love the color
03/04/2004 12:23:13 PM
this is technically a superb shot, the border detracts though, puling the eye out & away from your image area
03/04/2004 10:48:06 AM
The drool is a cute addition... :) I like the simplicity of this one!
03/04/2004 10:22:16 AM
Love the colors and bright lighting, makes for a punchy/high contrast pic. The drool was a nice added touch. ;) Somehow I'd imagine the infant owner of this freshly plucked pacifier would be anything BUT silent right about now. Nice shot, different, keep 'em coming. :)
03/04/2004 09:58:22 AM
Great, clear shot. Any parent will know how this conveys silence. I like the lighting, the focus is right on, and I even think the border is a good choice.
03/04/2004 08:47:15 AM
Very clear and sharp. I do like the way the colors are presented here, especially against the pure white background. I see you have also mastered the lighting perfectly, revealing only minimal shadows. Exactly as you would find in stock photography catalogs. The inclusion of the saliva running down just adds so much more impact.
03/03/2004 08:28:09 PM
the drool get this shot an extra point ;)
Close in, well lit, and a bit ikky.
03/03/2004 04:34:56 PM
i see a pic of an inanimate object. most such objects make no sound, and do not convey the concept of silence. this object is like those - not conveying the concept of silence (the opposite, as the owner is likley making noise right now). Does not fit challenge.
03/03/2004 08:51:16 AM
well done image...this is a great example of the power of a title, it's funny and it makes the image fit the challenge but silence isn't the first thing I think of when I see it
03/03/2004 08:40:35 AM
I like that this dummy has just been used. Great clarity. 9
03/03/2004 07:24:17 AM
made me lauhg! :)
03/03/2004 12:46:54 AM
I like the image... focus and DOF are fine. Exposure could be better on the left side but it's fine. Only objection is to the title which really isn't part of the photo.
