TVby jmritzComment: Yes, the ambiguity is the key. One of the great virtues of this sort of work is that one brings the viewers' minds into play as an integral part of the image/experience. This is really nice work. |

riotby krnodilComment: Excellent, excellent, excellent. The lack of focus accentuates the the "environment of light". One sees this as one "really" sees it if one sticks one's face in the middle of this scene. |

by boysetsfireComment: Oddly effective. I see nothing wrong with "zones of sharpness" in this challenge, so that's OK by me. There's all kinds of ways to use dominant blur. |

A Good Book for Companyby WildcardComment: If you think the sweater is dorky, how about the hat? I have him pegged as Austrian :-) The image doesn't do a lot for me, however... It has a certain charm, but I wouldn't come back to look at it over and over again... |

her soul by whiteroomComment: Great title as well, Lesley :-) I'm not sure "ugly" is the word we want, but "determinedly non-aesthetic" would work :-) There's story-telling at work here, and that's why this works. |
