The technical gestalt here is "mall Studio", utterly banal, but the hat and the expression are SO outside that. I have come back tot his many times and it always makes me smile, so I am giving you a large bump. My first reaction was "blehhh", but now I love it.

This is a peculiar crop. I am not sure I care for the cutting off of the left eye, and I definitely don't like how the iris is tangent to the image edge. I am bothered by the truncation of the chin, the way the curve of the jaw takes us nowhere. Then the ear is also whacked. Overall, it's like an "edgy" crop, but then the image itself is so smooth and soft, so those aren't working in concert for me.

Still, for all of that, it's an appealing image, and the focal eye is quite compelling.

I'd be a lot happier with this one if I could really make out some detail around the feet...
