RETIRED MECHANICAL MARVELby kiwinickComment: This is pretty striking to the eye. Would be more so if you could rescue some detail in the trailing roller and the rearmost of the two handle forks. |

Screwedby MikeOComment: Nice to see a corkscrew on a non-competing background. Shadows too blocked up for my tatstes, though... |

Pop goes the Santa....by HornOUBetComment: This is appealing. It improves ont he other jack-in-the-box in this challenge by emphasizing the crank, which is the direct mechanical tie-in. I sense a slight falloff of sharpness at the top... |

Lift Bridgeby GatorguyComment: Helluva mechanical, yup. The extreme blue sky's workign against you here. I'd love to see this with sunset light. |

Computer's grandfatherby yomanComment: It's a wonderful object but the lighting and background don't begin to do it justice. As a sidenote, how is a tpewriter the
grandfather" of a computer? Wouldn't that be an adding machine? Or better yet, an abacus? |

Past Usefulnessby brooklynComment: I admire this one for alternative thinking. I wish the back part of the hinge were lightened a stop or so. |

Ole Faithfulby RayEthierComment: It's a lovely, pure mechanical object, but there's a significant subject/ground conflict here, witht he handle getting lost in the treeline and the top of the pump tangent to the strong horizontal. |

mechanics of motionby tazzaComment: I feel like this same shot could have been adjusted to be much more effective; there's alot of potential here. I wish the base were truly squared up, it's slightly lopsided and that bugs me. The purity and aggresiveness of the overall red background seems to be working against the motion you're trying to depict. |
