I created the cube out of wire I pulled from some 14-2 electrical wire and then soldered it together. Also mixed up a batch of "bubble solution" to dip the cube in to, then carefully used a straw to inflate the "inner cube".

The 12 panels of water/soap film that connect to the edges of the wire pull the inner bubble into the shape of a cube because water always wants to form the smallest possible surface area within a structure.

The background is just a white scrim lit with a strobe firing from below through a blue gel; the "hot spot" creates the color difference.

Post-processing was pretty simple:
. Crop to 8x10 aspect ratio
. Auto Levels
. Cloned out supporting wire on left side
. Slight adjustment to Brightness/Contrast

Beautiful. I'll be shocked if this doesn't make the top 5. It might have been cool if you could find a way (reflection or background print) to get a "thinking" face inside the box.

Excellent model of a hypercube -- can't do much better in only three dimensions.

It's a nice photo, with good effects, but I'm not so sure it really meets the challenge so marking down on that.

Neat shot! I'd say your off on the right foot for carrying through with your resolution. I like the blue tones. The copper color of the bubble blower makes a nice contrast.

Awesome lighting, wondering how you achieved the background (if it wasn't Photoshop). Would've liked to see more reflection of the of the cube at the bottom.

Great concept. Love the variance of blues, lighting, and reflective execution. I may have cropped 2/3 off top fraame. Good luck and HNY.

eerie as hell. composition seems a tad static for outside-the-box thinking.
