PICT0049a.jpgby whiteroomComment: What's a "vlei", Lesley? And no, that's not your poem LOL. That's my sound of admiration. I'm trying to build a knowledge base to work with here. What's the STORY? The deserts's encroaching on these trees? Or it's moved past them and they are unearthed after a long time of being buried? |

In the Key of Silenceby DannyMComment: reminds me of Conrad Aiken:
"And the stillness is in the key, all of it is,
the stillness is all in the key of that desolate sound..." |

Just one question tho...what are the bands on the legs for? |
Zoos mark all their animals. It's especially important with birds, who are relatively free to come and go if they occupy the zoo grounds but not a cage. The bands have numbers on them to allow access to a database. So say one of the brids gets sick, they just run the database and see the bird's history. And of course if the bird "escapes" and is foudn elsewhere, the band can be used to track it.
You'll even see bands on a lot of wild creatures; scientists are always capturoing, tagging/banding, and releasing wild creatures. Sometimes the tags will have transmitters so the creature can be tracked, for study of feeding behavior, migratory patterns, and the like. |

Smooth even strokeby cabaComment: This is really, really nice! I love looking at it. I suspect you'd have finished even higher were the image a little crisper. Great finish for a great shot! |
