They Roost By Nightby GeneralEComment: Love the sky. Really beautiful. The birds and the pole seem to be a bit soft on the focus though. that would be my only suggestion would be that I wish they were a bit more crisp. Otherwise, a really pretty shot. I like how you put the pole to one side, and not directly in the middle of the shot. Definately makes a difference on how this looks. nice find. ~Heather~ |

Leap!by JB707Comment: Definately action. I think the sky is a little blown out toward the left middle of the photo. I don't mind the shadows on the people, I think it looks good against the sky. the angle and framing/cropping are all good as well. This shot makes me smile. ~Heather~ |

Slow Sync Shotby andygoughComment: Shows good action. Nice panning shot. I like how well you got him in focus, and the background is nicely blurred. Love the rosy cheeks...looks like he worked hard to help you with this shot. :) ~Heather~ |

Breaststroke-Crawl-Butterfly or Praying Mantis!by trainComment: What's up with the title? I'm a little confused. This shot has nothing to do with a butterfly. The head area is a little dark. I like the detail on the body, and although it's not really strong, I can see a bit of movement in the shot. I like the blue background. |

Surfing Steamer Lane (Santa Cruz, California)by sfaliceComment: Good action shot. I wish the subject were a little more in focus. I realize it's an action shot, but I think it would have been just as good as a "stopped motion" shot. It would have still shown the movement and could have been a bit more in focus. i like how the surfer is silhouetted. Nice touch. ~Heather~ |

Smell the Rosesby arnitComment: There's definately movement, and I love the background. But I'm a little confused as to why there are roses flying around her head. They seem pointless there to me. I think I would personally prefer there to be no roses. There is great movement in this shot without them, and they dont really add anything to it. My only other complaint would be the dark side of her face. Wish there was a bit more lighting there. Otherwise, focus and clarity are great. And the angle and placement of the subject are great as well. ~Heather~ |

GERONIMO!by scrum8Comment: this shot does show movement to me. I almost missed it though. I thought he was standing on the tower, until I realized his head was hanging a bit far off the edge to be just standing there. Then I realized his feet, and he's definately on a mission. The yellow slide is a bit of a distraction to me. I wonder how this would look cropped to just above the yellow slide. Cause right now, the slide is such a bright part of the photo, my eyes keep being drawn to it. Might put more focus on the dog if the bottom were brought up to crop off the slide. Worth a try anyway. ~Heather~ |

Fire on Iceby MaverickComment: Definately shows movement. It seems kind of grainy, and I assume that's from the darkness. I like the slow shutter speed used here. Not always my favorite effect, but you have done it nicely. I like how this was taken from a corner, and not directly head on. Overall a nice action shot. ~Heather~ |

'The Plunge' (83rd Annual Polar Bear Swim, H2o 8C, Air 7C)by ellamayComment: Definately an action shot. Love the stopped motion of the water droplets all around the swimmers. Doesn't look cold, but I'll take your word for it. The lighting is good. No annoying shadows or bright spots, so it looks like the weather was cooperating even though it was cold. The angle is good for the shot as well. I think that it was good to capture the splashes and water droplets. Good job. ~Heather~ |

Father-Daughter Sleddingby EmerauldeComment: This is a beautiful shot, but I wish there were more action in it. you can't even really tell they are moving except the child looks like she's stomping in the snow. You did a wonderful job with the exposure and white balance, which are often difficult in snow shots. I love how the snow is sitting on the trees. Looks like Michigan right now. :) ~Heather~ |
