The Bearded Ladyby ellamayComment: I wish the whole butterfly was in focus. probably a difficult task to ask for, but with the upper wings out of focus, it almost makes it look like a bad editing job, where you blurred the background and oops, must have gotten the upper wing accidently. I know this is probably not the case, but my first impression when I see it. Focus on the rest of the bfly is nice. lighting is good, and background contains no distracting elements. Overall nice, but not extraordinary. ~Heather~ |

Split Bout....the inner struggleby graphicfunkComment: Even though I have had a bit of insight on how this was done, I'm still not sure if I prefer the results. It is very clever. Points for that. I guess it's just not my thing. I'm not 'into' it. Technically, it's very well done. Good focus, lighting and nothing distracting in the background. ~Heather~ |

Natural Womanby heidaComment: Very nice focus and clarity. I love the crispness. I wish she didn't look so sad. I think her eyes are competing with the tree bright dots to the right of her face. In other words, i find the dots to be a distraction from her face. They are so close to her face, and similar to size and color to her eyes, that my eyes are drawn over to the dots as well as her eyes. Still a very lovely photo and beautiful girl as well. ~Heather~ |

Marble nude in blueby mandypComment: Really neat shot. I think my favorite so far. Love the color and the angle and framing/cropping are excellent. I like how this is very diagonal and leads you right into the photo. Focus and clarity are perfect and I just love it. ~Heather~ |

mother natureby SeanachaiComment: There is a glow all the way around your model. Looks like a selection tool used. While legal in the advanced editing rules, I think it didn't go very smoothly in this case. The editing mistakes are very obvious and distract from the overall feel of the photo in my opinion. I think that the desat of the body is nice, but would rather have the color than the halo around the girl. Very nice idea, and focus and clarity are good. Lighting looks to have been great. I love the shadows of the leaves on her body. I also like how she is not in the center of the photo, but off to the side. ~Heather~ |

Its all Natural!by tolovemoonComment: Definately nude. There are a lot of things here that I think could use improvement. First, and most noticable are the red eyes. Use the red eye reducer if you have it, or use natural light and not the flash. Focus is a bit soft, and the lighting is very dim and dull. The baby is adorable, but I think the photo does not do him justice. ~Heather~ |

A subtle patience by heidaComment: A very lovely photo. I wish her face were lit a bit more, but otherwise, very nice. I like how the light is on her belly, and I like the overall softness of the photo. Angle and framing are nice. I wonder how it would look with her looking forwards. Nothing distracting inthe background. Overall very nice. ~Heather~ |

The tree before the vanishingby jasonmccarthyComment: *Critique Club*
Hi there. The first thing I notice about this shot is the lighting and color. I'm thinking the 2 go hand in hand here. Seems unnaturally orange/yellow ish. Unlike some of the people, I like the sidewalk in the front. I think that's a nice angle, and definatley portrays the vanishing point here.
There is nothing about the shot that makes me jump out of my seat with excitement, however, it is a well composed shot in my opinion. I'm thinking that I might have cropped the bright lights out of the shot. Maybe cropped right below the bottom light. I think that crop works for me. I wonder how this would be if taken during the day. I'm not thinking that the night shot is really adding to this shot for me.
I think that the post at the very end of the sidewalk is interesting. Kind of shows how far away into the distance your 'vanishing point' can go.
Overall, I think it could be more interesting with a slightly different crop, and taken during the daytime. ~Heather~

Gate Keeperby Pixel LadyComment: *Critique Club*
Hi there. This definately meets the challenge in my opinion. parallel lines going off into the distance definately says vanishing point to me. I like the colors. The greens are nice and strong, and I like how the red of the brick pillar stands out among the greens.
The telephone pole thingy (as you have heard) is a distraction. Stands out in the crowd, and doesn't seem to really 'belong' in the photo.
Your focus and clarity on the fence is good.
Lighting seems to be alright, no distracting shadows. My only complaint there would be that the whitness of the lion thing is a bit too white, and therefor washes out some of the detail.
I like the angle and framing you chose to do this at. I like how it draws your eyes from left to right across the photo. I also like that the fence is in the lower half of the photo, not dead center of the photo.
As I look even closer, there is a bright red triangle in the lower right hand corner of the photo. It's really bright and stands out a lot after I notice it. Is that something on the ground, or is this something you camera put there? Seems really weird.
Anyway, I think it's a nice shot, the subject doesn't make me jump out of my seat with excitement, but technically pretty well done.
