Your photo is nice and the lighting is great. I wish the nose was as clear as the rest of the face. Definately new. Eyes still puffy and everything. Great shot of a great event. Congrats and good luck in the challenge.

Definately very new. It does't get much newer than this. I like how the baby is still all puffy. lol. I'm really glad you submitted this in color. The close up is great. I was thinking I might have wanted to see a wider shot to see more of the baby's face, but then thought that the close up showed his newness very well. The photo was thought out, and creativly taken. It's not just a picture of a baby. Great shot and good luck with the challenge.

He doesn't seem so new anymore. However, he could be new to YOU, so who am I to judge?? Looks like he took over the bed. We know who's boss here. :) I think he's adorable. He's got a bit of alien eye syndrome. I'm not sure yet how it works, but is this kind of the same thing as red eye? Some cameras have a setting to reduce red eye. Would it work with the "blue eye" thing happening here? When voting is all said and done, could someone let me in on how the red eye, blue eye thing works, and how it can be fixed, if at all? I think this is a great photo. Congrats and good luck with the challenge.

I like the fact that you have the unsharpened pencils in the background. I also like that the sharpened pencil and the pencil shavings are clear and the unsharpened ones are just hanging out in the background. How many red pencils did you go through before you got this one so perfect? Nice job and good luck with the challenge.

If I'm right, we have a photo of some glass blowing technique. I really like this. Definately unique. Great idea. I think people are going to say it's a little dark, but with the subject matter, I don't think you could have done much to prevent that. Congrats and good luck.

Hey! I think this is the "rule of thirds"! I don't much know about the rule of thirds, only what I read in the threads in the forums, but I think that rule was applied here, and it IS pretty appealing. You did an excelent job of making that building straight in the photo. The edge of the photo goes right along the cross bar of the window. I also like how you made it so the skyline was new, and not the building. That is very creative and has a really neat affect. Plus that sky is a beautiful blue. The cloud may be a slight bit too bright, but that was probably nessasary in order to make the building not too dark. Great job and good luck with the challenge.

Kind of looks like you took this out your car window as you were stopped at the new stop sign. I think it would have been a bit more visually appealing to take the photo head on, or from a bottom angle, looking up. Maybe could have been taken when the sun was a bit brighter, however, that may have cast too much reflection onto the sign and that would have been distracting. For being what looks like a spur of the moment photo, you caught the sign so it is almost exactly vertical. Good eye for that. If I would have taken it, we would have end up looking at it diagnally. Photo kind of makes me laugh. Definately depicts something new. Good luck with the challenge.

Great close up. I like how you can see the hairy leaves around the flower. The lighting is a bit shadowy towards the back and a bit bright towards the front left. This is probably the fault of the sun. I've seen where people put a thin cloth, or thin paper between the source of light and the subject and it helps to balence the light a little better. Gotta be careful if you try that though, that you don't get funny shadows from the cloth or paper. I like how it's opening up to a new day. Then it will be all ready to follow the sun around all day. Great shot and good luck with the challenge.

This photo has really great focus and lighting, and I love how you can see the pretty variety of colors in the background too. I wish that the poor little orange didn't have battle wounds, but hey, new is new, no matter how you look at it, and this is about as new and fresh as it gets. By the way, I've never actually seen an orange on a tree...looks kind of funny hanging there. lol You didn't use that "rule of thirds" but that doesn't really matter to me yet, cause I'm not 100% positive how that works yet, but heard that it makes a much higher impact on the people that know how to use it. Personally, I like it how it is. Oh well... Great job on the photo and good luck with the challenge.
