A New Beginning by YomiComment: I think this is one of those intimate moments a photographer should be shooting instead of the formal stiff portraits. This shows great emotion. It makes a very big impact on the viewer. I get the idea that the guy is about to kiss her on the head.
The background is wonderful for this btw. In real life (outside dpc I would edit the ugly chunck of ice away.
And compliments for that wedding dress. Message edited by author 2003-02-21 13:55:28. |

Screen Door Portraitureby greenem2Comment: ~~~~Critique Club Comment~~~~
Composition (content)
The screen door adds a very interesting touch to this photo. It makes it look like a painting on a very rough kind of canvas. Therefore it is a bit of a shame that it is ripped, that gives away that it is a screen.
Good pose and frame positioning for a full frontal portrait.
The grey toning works very well and the stripes on the shirt match with the hair/face tones and the frame. All grey would have been a bit boring, making the torso an unnecassary element.
Nice lighting, only improvement could be a reflector beneath to fill in the area under the chin. On the other hand the way it is now it is in balance with the facial expression.
Background
Dark and empty, doesn't take the attention from the foreground and gives enough contrast for the subject.
Camera Work (Technical)
Good exposure and use of aperture. A wider aperture might have blurred either the screen or the background or cause a focus problem.
Screen adds pleasent softness.
Digital Processing (technical)
Good grey toning.
My opinion
Very good. |

Peek a Boo!by mcraelComment: Huh? Just a stupid flower pic from the cliché challenge? Hmm, reflection in the glass? No.
Shadow effect? No.
Just when I was about to give up I spot the face in the flower. :)
Wonder how you did this, good that there is an admin note on it.

A Bugs Lifeby Fibre OptixComment: Interesting lens flare effect around the head (huge corona). The bug must wonder "Is this our God?". |

Dad and Dogby crzystarbuckzgrlComment: I didn't even notice the plant growing out of your dad's head and I am amazed to find it at 102nd place. I gave this one of the three 10's I gave in this challenge.
I am curious what you come up with next. Good luck.

Before and After I put on my Glasses by AzrifelComment: Yeeehaaaaaa!!!!
Thanks everyone!
It must have been two or three weeks ago that I said in the forums and/or in the chat that I expected to make "ribbon-quality" in a year or two from now. :)
Never expected this when I made it, I was just happy to score a 7+ and was anxious that it would just drop below it the whole week. I dreamed about a ribbon though. :)
Didn't wan't to get out of bed this morning in case it would be #4 or #5, but guess what, I got third! (/me makes funny moves with arms)
Thanks to all of you, it is also your photo's that inspire & help me. DPChallenge was the first site to really make me think about what I am doing with my camera and the critique club is a great help too.
Guess I have to do better in the future, lets say that I wan't to get a red ribbon within five years. ;)
Get the party started, drinks are on me! |

Erlaby IceRockComment: This is a pretty good portrait (lighting, candid look), but the border is very distracting. |

Cute Clichesby DougPazComment: This is cute! Great smiles, the dog and doll makes the composition more complete and the background is somthing you can relate to the scene.
Great lighting and camerawork.
