It took me a while (couple of seconds instead of first glance) to see how that gold thingie related to the hand. After I figured out that it is the brake lever on a racing cycle and that the hand is positioned in the lower part of the handle bars it made a lot more sense to me. When I didn't see it, the shot didn't work for me and I would have given it a 6, but now that I do I'll give it an 8.
It would help if there was a bit more light on the connection between the handle and the lever as well as the fingers. Outside the basic rules challenge you could perhaps dodge it a bit..

I like it how you positioned the car and how the lines lead toward it. The low angle from which you shot gives an interesting view of the car.
In my opinion the balance between top, bottom and horizon is a bit off, the horizon and subject are to centered.

Berlage architecture? Could it be the Beurs?

Unfortunate that the sky is so boring, the sculptures, colors in the clock and the style provides an interesting subject but it looks too flat this way imho.

Chicago's Newest Landmark, "The Bean".

Cool, now you don't have to buy a fisheye anymore, just carry a magic bean in your camera bag. The composition is interesting to some extent, but the lighting of the surrounding scene is a bit flat. The exposure in the bean is better. :)

Another fun aspect is: Where are you on that bean? Pretty far away and small I guess, there where the front tiles go into a bit darker grey, at the intersection of two panels on the bean?

The composition is pretty good with the position of the 'buggy' and the way the fence and road lead out of the frame. The overal scene seems like it is brightened a bit or the exposure is a bit flat. Let me load it in Photoshop.......

The histogram shows that most exposure values lay in the middle, the scene has only 3 stops worth of information. By adjusting the levels you can stretch it out to five to get a better distribution. Load it into your favorite post-processing software (as long as it has levels adjustments). Now change the input values to 23 (from 0) for the left slider and 209 (from 255) for the right slider. This is just a base setting, try to experiment to get to the best settings. A levels adjustment can improve the contrast of this shot quite a bit.

The flames always burn out so easily, this one is just about right. The illumination of the hands is just great, good exposure, nice warm color.

The water pump is very interesting, especially because of the beautiful rotor, but the house draws to much attention away imho. Perhaps that another angle or just using the rotor itself as a subject might create a stronger impact. The way the light from the back illuminates the rotor blades from the back is interesting. Despite that the composition is good.
Exposure and contrast balance is very good, colors look natural.

Conditions like mist are great to photograph historical subjects without the modern stuff like 20th century buildings, cars and IJ-tunnels in the background. It is one of the things that bugs me the most when I visit historical sites, always those damn cars and mopeds. :(
A bit unortunate that they had those non-sailing-related-sails on the side of the ship, I guess they were painting. I am already looking forward to SAIL Amsterdam 2005 btw.

Anyway, about the photo:
I like the portrayal here, with the emphasize on the interesting rear section and the classic curved line towards the front, somewhat disappearing into the mist. Colors are pretty good as well as the exposure. Stuff like that can be pretty hard in the flat mist light.
The horizon on the left looks a bit unnatural (cloning, gaussian blur?), but it is not that distracting.

Nice work.

The tractor (do I use the right word?) makes this picture work for me. Because it provides such dark contrast against the other parts of the scene.
To improve I'd suggest to straighten the horizon. The roof of the house provides a good line for that. The background is a bit bright in relation to the foreground and that draws the attention away a bit. Could be imroved by some burning.
The pattern of the hills looks familiar (only seen it once), California?
