I'm pretty sure there'll be plenty of other candle shots so hopefully this won't be marked down too much.
Took many tries to get the hands to look balanced and composed the way I wanted. More difficult than I anticipated!

Edits: The usual - crop, usm, ni, cloning out hot pixels and other nasties, levels, selective colour adjustment, saturation.

Congratulations on your 12th placing. A nice warm image and certainly low tech.

I sat here and stared at this for a minute or two cuz I couldn't decide what to think about it. It meets the challenge, it has great symmetery in composition, good depth. I can't put my finger on it, but I would call this a really good photo that 'could' be a really great photo. Again I'm not sure why. Still a top placer in my list.

The flames always burn out so easily, this one is just about right. The illumination of the hands is just great, good exposure, nice warm color.

I really like the reflection and spot on straightness of the focal point. Leads the candle to appear a lot larger than a simple tea candle and this draws the eye right to the focus. The softness of the inside hands also brings the eye to the flame and the long exposure star highlights are very effective. The 'x-ray' effect on the fingers is somewhat distracting, but the gradual push into the shadows seems to mostly nullify that. Very impressive composition and a top contender in my book.

A very good effort boosted by the hand position to create a pleasant illusion. 7

wow! now this is a nice photograph! great lighting, and great use of centered composition. I was going to do something with a tea light for my entry, but I'm sure it wouldn't have turned out this well! great job.

I like the contrast between light and dark in this - not quite sure about the reflections

Excellent photo, the lighting is exquisite and the hands help emphasis the candle light.
