Mona Lisaby liebeComment: Those big eyes and smily lips jump out at you. I don't care about the softness, it's a lovely b&w portrait. 8 |

1642 - English Civil Warby FalcComment: Lovely scene, worthy of a classic painting.
It is rather dark and red/magenta tone biased. I wonder what you think of this quick edit, altough overdone a bit:

I changed the color balance and took out some red and magenta in favour of cyan, green and yellow. I also brightened a bit with a small pull on the curves and added some contrast.

On my ownby AmasonComment: As a motorcyclist (a street racing one) I must say that I love a corner combo like this. It is wonderful how the road flows trough the scene and draws the eye along the rough scenery.
I had almost missed the lone cyclist. Altough I prefer walking (in nature, no paths) this kind of country must be bliss for a bicyclist. I hope he turned left to follow that path I see. It looks promising. 8 |

The Generalby jmsetzlerComment: You see this face, relatively old and full of grooves and grey hairs. He must have experienced a lot by now and the dirt on his face suggest that he is working with cattle this moment and it is a hard job. But the look is a bit fearsome, like he can combat a raging bull anytime but fears to be photographed. The only other emotion that comes to mind is sadness, like he just lost someone or a calf.
Great portrait, well lit, good toning, good composition. |

Prague Sunriseby AndrewTOComment: Excellent catch, the tower in the background is like one from a fairytale. I need to go back there one day, it is a lovely town for photography, especially outside the busy tourist hours. |

Under the Old Oak Treeby Studio18Comment: Is this IR?
I like it how the dark arch of the old tree seems to shepherd the younger bright ones below. Old vs new, light vs dark. Great b&w. 8 |

"Is it gonna rain today?"by russiComment: Good, original. Makes me think of the horrible conditions you get at outdoor music festivals. I can see that this is not at such an occasion, but the mood is good. 8 |

Vintage Dollby CalliopeKelComment: Lovely B&W, it looks so old and I like that kind of photographs. The big eyes connect to the viewer. The only 'flaw' is the burnout of the clothes and I would like to see more environment to get a better story.

Seeking the Shadeby joezlComment: All the elements in the photo dwarf the human. The wall, the base stones and the street stones, they are all bigger than the person. That's what I like here. Also the domninace of red and orange and suddenly this tiny bit of blue stands out. The one thing that would make it perfect is a little bit of extra contrast, like +12 in Photoshop. It gives that little bit of extra depth to the colors.
Still a 9 for me. |
