a10.jpgby scudsComment: nice lighting on the beak. The bird itself could've been lighted a bit more, though. |

falls4.jpgby scudsComment: nice scenery. I think you should crop out some water in the foreground
(perhaps following the rule of thirds?) |

DSC_0841.jpgby nomad469Comment: very nice comp and light. Beautiful model, too. I'd just increased DOF so both eyes are in focus... |

Napby LevTComment: Ivo, thanks! you're right about highlights. Thanks to the RAW file I was able to rescue them. Is it better now? Message edited by author 2005-09-23 02:05:53. |

Making bubbles ...by kari1Comment: nice composition, but the background wall is unappealing. Should have either blur it by shallowe dof or replace by something else. |

Chaosby BradComment: Great shot Brad! Congrats!
I had a feeling that I've seen this row before but wasn't sure. Now I am. If I remember correctly, this street is called Hope Str, right? I took a similar photo some years ago in my film days with this row of boxes and the street sign above.
Edit: Darn, just read your comments - it is Hope str, of course, and your Serendipity entry (which I hadn't seen before) is almost identical to that photo of mine which I mentioned above. Message edited by author 2005-09-21 11:36:16. |

Bareby LevTComment: Thanks to everyone and especially to Neuferland for comments and critique. I think, my experiment (see above) worked - nobody accused me of being off-topic, and I found that about half of the viewers liked the colors and another half found them tacky and unnatural. Of course they are unnatural, that was the whole idea, if I kept the original sky color it would be one booooring photograph. Surprizingly, over a span of the past week I more-less made peace with the colors here, so while for me they still ARE tacky, the overall package kinda works, not as a photograph, but as a piece of pop-art. I can see it on a wall in some New York Upper West Side apartment :) |
