Torreby ZoomdakComment: Those darn power lines get in the way! JK. ;^) This shot does a good job of taking the viewer thru the image. I like the color treatment on the sky. You're brave to take on this type of subject...it's hard to avoid jaggies on resize to 640 with all the lines.
Smile and keep having fun! |

850 Wild Horses Roarin Byby SkipComment: Nice shot Skip. Noisy at the office - eh? ;^) I like how there is a natural line formed from the front of the car, thru the pit crew guys on the track, up to the Goodwrench flag in the corner. The track lighting brings in a parallel line from the top. I'm not really sure what type of perspective you were going for here but I like it anyway. He-he. |

Natural-Lamp.jpgby jellyooooComment: Very well done. Nice job of exposing this challenging composition. At first I was going to suggest a minor crop to lose what appears to be shoreline at the bottom of the image - on second thought it gives the viewer a feel of being there. Take care, and keep having fun! |

Flying Southby arnitComment: I like this image. From where I sit the primary subject looks to be the domed structure at the base of the mountains. The mountains would be second. The geese flying thru aren't (IMO) a primary part of the image, yet your title suggests that you intend them to be? Personally, I'm not thinking that the geese factor in at all for the rule of thirds. The domed structure sits on an intersecting thirds point (as it should, again IMO). The grassy plains in front take up the bottom third of the image so that works. The blue looks a little over-saturated - yes/no? Mostly evident to me in the far right hillside. Is that dust on your sensor causing the dark spots in the sky (bummer if it is - I'm assuming they are and disregarded it for scoring).
Overall this image has a nice feel to it. Nice capture. Good luck in the challenge. |

biljard01.jpgby IncarlightComment: This is fun to look at. Figuring out where all the balls are headed, the angles, etc... |

Tranquilityby abimalechComment: Looks like the salmon are running early at Lake Michigan? Just guessing...
Nice shot. Not sure about the rule of thirds being applied...seems a bit centered (the focal points). If you trimmed a bit off the bottom maybe? Anyway, good luck in the challenge. |

Medieval Maidenby NodeComment: She's pretty and it's a nice photo, but I don't see the rule of thirds being applied here. Most people shots will focus on the face/eyes. In this case her face is centered in the image...granted it's in the top third of the photo, but that's not an intersecting point. Sorry, not trying to be rude about it - this was a technical type challenge. |

Red Red Rideby TuckersmomComment: Great pic, I really like it, but I wonder what the focal point is and where/what the rule of thirds is being applied to? I guess I'm not seeing a main subject other than the entire image. |

the dotsby Pipon13Comment: Your image is a bit on the small side. Hard to grade it (vote) when you can't see it. |

Birds Eye Viewby megryanComment: That's cool to know this piece of information regarding this wonderful image. I was on vacation when the results of this challenge came in and never really went thru the results in depth upon return.
This is a gorgeous photo! Well composed, great detail and color. The only nitpik I have is the reflection on the eye. It is what it is, but perhaps it could be played with a bit to remove the trees, or maybe some other approach entirely with cloning, etc...? One other thing, have you tried boosting the contrast just a tiny bit? My work monitor is not the best to judge photos with, so please bear with me if I'm way off base.
Surprised you don't have this up as a print. Again, well done!
Smile and keep having fun! ;^)

It is a juvenile and so docile that I literally had the lens in its face and it didn't mind. The parents have been coming around for some time and bring their babies every year ! |
