If there is one thing I have learned about DPC, its that boarders are a real touchy thing. I don't think this one adds much to the composition. Now on to the photo. The idea is soiled and even if it is only a pencil it has interest. I might have positioned it so it was pointing more into the corner of the frame. 7, an 8 without the boarder

Clever idea. This image feels 3D-ish. Kind of wish the tip of the erase was also in focus, but it's still a fun photo. Best of luck to you in the challenge.

"...your points of interest should be placed on the intersections of those lines"... it seems to me that the focus is on the bronze part, that is not on the intersection.
But nice subject and colors!
