fishsign.jpgby KelliComment: Hilarious! Let's see...a cyclone dropped this from the sky? No...
Somebody needed a cutting board to fillet it and thought this sign would work? No?
Hmmm...I know. A ticked off wife took hubbies prized mount off the wall and parked it here! Yep. That's it! :P
Glad to see you're paying attention to road signs! |

photojournalistby yianisnComment: Clever idea. Well lite, the focus is fine, and postioning of the subject is ok too. The killer on this is the background IMO. Some distance between the subject and the bg would have blurred it out for you and kept the bg from becoming part of the viewers interest. JMO of course. :) Good luck in the challenge. |

Wood Printby NovaTigerComment: I stopped and looked at this one for a while. It's cute. Honestly, I'm trying to figure out what is in the frame(s) of film next to the Woody negative. Probably not your intent. The color cast is also a little uncomfortable. If you're going to shift did you consider blue or even B/W? Sorry, I wish I could put my finger on what isn't pulling this off for me. :( Best of luck to you in the challenge. |

Elemental Danceby faeryComment: I like the idea and concept here. A few things that jump out at me that IMO would help this. 1) It would be nice if Woody wasn't on a stand (I know not easy to do, but it IS possible). 2) A faster shutter speed would have "frozen" the smoke. Because the smoke is moving it appears blurred. 3) The lighting is somewhat harsh. Probably needed it that way some to get the smoke to "light" up correctly, but the lighting on 'Woody' is too strong IMO on the outside edges (arm, shoulder, head).
Just some thoughts and comments. Best of luck to you in the challenge. |

"It's wood polish dad! I saw them using it!"by CEJComment: Sorry, but I'm missing the point of the title. Is this some subliminal message? You've done a nice job of lighting the main subjects. They are well focused and stand out well against the black background. The tub in the middle...??? Seems out of place. Looks like a rubbermaid or tupperware container with a urine sample in it. Hmmm...oh well. Best of luck to you in the challenge. |

Hey!... Im the REEEAAAL Woody! Pick me.....Guys?....Guys? Cummon Guys!by carloComment: Love Toy Story (both of them). As clever as your title is and having a technically sound image - you're running into trouble with the DNMC crowd I'm afraid. The challenge specifically pointed out 'Woody' the wooden stick man in the details.
BTW - you should have left the label around back IMO (and straightened out his collar). ;^) |

Weathered editedby Jaded_HousewifeComment: The coloring looks natural. I get the impression you did some masking on this from your comments? I think it's quite good. Of course I didn't stare at the plant too hard. :) |

What Lays Beyond?by KonadorComment: I'm going to have to look, but don't you have another shot or two similar to this? Not that it matters in regards to this photo, just curious.
I really like the subdued tones in this. I say subdued because there isn't much near the true white range and limited highlights. Wonderful job of capturing the natural light in this scene. The title matches up perfectly with the general feel of what this image is saying - what IS around the corner. The people walking in that direction get you started, the multiple lines all steer the viewer that way as well, and of course that building jutting into the alley/street blocking your view all add to the impact.
Very nice photo, as usual from you. :) Take care.

camelby ArpeggioAngelComment: Aha! Outside and away from the glass. Quite evident in the quality of the details. Cute and funny expression captured here. The details of the fur/hair on the near (shaded) side are very good. Minor shame about the blowout top of the nose and lower lip. Shooting in RAW, could adjust some? Aw heck, I don't even know what camera you used for these... :(
This one jumped out at me from the thumbnails...had to take a peek. The snake one I commented on was the same way. :)
Smile and keep having fun! |

jaguarby ArpeggioAngelComment: I love this expression captured in the jaguars face. After reading your story behind the photo it makes sense. :) Amazing animal, and gorgeous to look at. Again, a little noisy, but hey - I'd be happy with it overall. You don't list any details on camera settings (lens, aperture, ISO, shutter speed) - would be interesting to see these when commenting. Just a thought.
Take care! |
