Wind Talking by QartComment: Thought I saw another image similar - must be something about wind, waves, and black flowing garments. :D You picked a nice broody day to take this shot. The background clouds add a nice element. For me the waves are the main indicator of 'Wind'. The fringe of her black outfit appears to be in motion from her movement. Wait! I just noticed (seriously) that that is not her arm off to the side. At first glance I really thought the light colored underside of the garment was her arm reaching out. An interesting optical illusion. Unfortunately, one that may fool others as well that don't take a long enough look. Regardless, you should still do quite well with the other key items that make up this composition. Best of luck to you in the challenge. |

From The Leftby RefocusedComment: I never have tried one of these match setup shots. Looks like fun - think I'll give it a go sometime soon. :) In your case, I like how you've indicated some air movement with the flame flowing to the right. Nice job of exposing correctly to get the flame and smoke showing properly. Good luck in the challenge. |

Blowing Leavesby jerseyjimComment: I like this for it's simplicity. The image itself is busy (bg trees, etc...). You've shown wind at work and connected to the challenge theme. The angle of the branch you've selected adds some nice interest with the diagonal lines. All of the above said, I'm not sure that your image has enough pop (WOW factor) to really move people to vote it much higher that 5-5.3. JMO of course. Best of luck to you in the challenge. |

harnessing windby nootComment: I know those are wind machines but where is the wind? It would be helpful to show some movement to sell the wind theme IMO. This photo also seems a little underexposed. Did you bump the levels or adjust the histogram any to see what impact it made? Not really sure that the grassy hill is adding much to this, unless it's blocking something in the distance that is not visually appealing. I see more wind machines off to the back right that makes me curious for more. All JMO of course. :D Good luck in the challenge. |

the callingby robaComment: Brrr. That water just LOOKS cold! Good capture of this moody setting (sky primarily). The subject makes you think for a minute, which is good. Wind is certainly evident in the water and the cape blowing around. Overall, nicely done. Good luck. |

Fifty Starsby neophyteComment: Crisp, clear, maybe a smidgen overexposed on the flagpole. The flag is well focused and vivid. Polarizer? May have added a little more pop to the sky, although it's pretty good as is. One of the better flag entries I've seen so far. Good luck in the challenge. |

The wind sweeps the sky cleanby NuzzerComment: Hmmm. Not here's an interesting take on the challenge. Nice timing on the shutter release. Will be interested in reading your comments on this when the challenge is finished for some details. Good luck in the challenge. |

Windblownby ladyhawk22Comment: Interesting seeing leaves, that the mind knows are in color, in B/W. I can understand your decision (eliminate bg or blown sky) and it works quite well. Your photo is sharp, well focused, and is amazingly deep (focus goes all the to the parking lot). Not sure if this was contrived or not, don't really care, it's a nicely done image. Kudos! Best of luck to you in the challenge. |

windstripesby zaflaboutComment: Very abstract looking. Including the tree gives it some context, otherwise it would difficult to know what you're looking at. While this is interesting, I'm not really sure that it gives the viewer (at least for me) a good sense of wind. It's not really a tangible item here. JMO of course. Best of luck to you in the challenge. |

Blizzardby KatheComment: Yep. Certainly windy in this photo. Can't help but wonder what the person is doing out in that weather in a cemetary. Hopefully this isn't disrespectful, but it looks like a photographer "chimping" his last shot. :D Overall, nicely done. Good luck in the challenge. Stay WARM! |
