Ivory Catby bryantbusComment: Wonderful lighting and detail in this photo. Nice job of getting a white background (for the most part) in place for this. Only minor complaint I have is the composition; it would be stronger if the cat wasn't centered, and if both ears were included. Last, and certainly a very, very minor point - if you are going to use your pet as a subject a little extra attention to details like grooming might help a little (fur under the chin is kind of matted and would look nicer combed out). I know, I know...it's a cat, but still. :D Best of luck to you in the challenge. |

Pure Holidaysby jfwolpertComment: This is a nice holiday concept type shot. Looks very stockish (which is fine). The lighting on the ornaments is nice and I like the blue tint. The thing holding this back for me is that you don't have a white background. Why not? It would have been fairly easy to do with the subject material you used. Hmmm. Anyway, best of luck to you in the challenge. |

Daisy on Whiteby tfarrell23Comment: I like the yellow/green glow here. That's a nice touch. The flower, especially the center, is nice and sharp. Given the impact the center of this flower adds, I would have pushed the background to a truer white. As is, it looks a bit dingy in comparison and takes away from the overall impact a little. All JMO of course. :D Good luck in the challenge. |

Natural beautyby Ragga2000Comment: This is one of the better flower shots I've seen in this challenge thus far. I like that you added the green leaf and kept the stem as this helps to offset the white flower from the white (yes, it's actually white - hooray!) background. Good detail and you didn't blow it out. Nicely done. Good luck in the challenge. |

Treasuresby SJCarterComment: Very good details on the foreground starfish. I understand your use of DOF to make the background shell an item of interest but not the primary. The big thing that holds this back for me is the seam from wall to floor (back to bottom, however you want to label it...). Best of luck to you in the challenge. |

CATby rtscribbs02Comment: This is cute. I do wish that the background was closer to white instead of beige. Your cat is certainly curious. Well, I guess they all are aren't they, especially at that age. :D Good luck in the challenge. |

vive la differenceby ralphComment: Ok, you lured me in from the thumbnail...had to take a look. :D I like the use of the chalks here, very creative. Great use of lighting to get the extremes on the left and base. Almost looks like clouds or fog rolling thru your photo. So, how'd you get them to stand up? I used some of these once and it was a pain to keep them in place. Used playdough on the bottom, which was fine until the playdough starting drying and hardening, then the little buggers would fall over. In your case you'd have some serious "dominos" going on! :D Good luck in the challenge. |

Funby DjabordjaborComment: This is a cute, well exposed image, and certainly is "Fun". I like the movement in this as it adds a nice touch to what could otherwise be a static portrait. Only nit from me on this is the colors are almost too vivid for the theme of this challenge. All JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge. |

Angelby rkligmanComment: Nice detail in your subject ('Angel'). The lighting is unique and helps to bring out some details. As interesting as the angel may be, I think it's almost a bit overpowering in filling the frame. Sometimes filling the frame is helpful, but in this case I think people could be looking for a little more background. The background really isn't as white as white can be. All JMO of course. :D Good luck in the challenge. |

Nature's cupcakesby hannekeComment: This is like one of optical illusions. The cupcake papers at first glance appear to be sitting on the bottom (or flat) side, like you're looking at them from under a piece of glass. Actually, it still looks that way even after a minute or two. :D Clever use of props on this. Good job of lighting it as well. Best of luck to you in the challenge. |
