Somewhere Up Thereby amjltComment: This is funny. Looks like he still has some serious bed head going on. :D As for the technical qualities, this is a bit too soft and the lighting seems a little harsh. JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge. |

Oh My ~ Look at Thatby ladpupmoeComment: This is cute and fun to look at. Not sure how it really fits as a true portrait. You've done a nice job getting a solid range of black to white in this. Good luck in the challenge. |

Dianaby ChasSourekComment: Nice tonal range here. Focal point seems to be right on. I can't help but tilt my head to look at this. Not sure why, but it feels funny with her laying to the left - to the right would be more comfortable IMO. Good luck. |

Curls Galoreby NowaytotellComment: This is cute. Lighting seems a little harsh making the photo seem a little flat (lacking depth in contrast). JMO of course. :) Good luck in the challenge. |

Mr. Bramold Totby UNCLEBROComment: He has such a serious expression and I imagine those eyes are quite intense. If only we could see them better. :D Focus is sharp around the nose but falls off fast and the eyes are way too soft IMO. Good luck in the challenge. |

facing the frostby mimsydotesComment: This is a tough one. I like what you were approaching here with the framing of the subject, but it feels awkward. Like I'd rather see more of his other eye, or not even a hint. I'd imagine you struggled with this because to frame it tighter would then come into his nose and mouth more. Hmmm. Glad it was you that had to decide! :D Other than that it's technically well done overall - maybe a touch warm on the cheek exposure wise. Good detail and clarity. Overall, well done. Good luck in the challenge. |

After a visit to the museumby mch_nzComment: Wonderful character in this portrait. The painting helps I'm sure, but her eyes seem so serious, perhaps contemplative...beyond her years. Hard to explain I guess. Certainly an engaging photo. Nicely done. Good luck in the challenge. |

Georgiby pawdrixComment: I like the way her hair and the hat isolate her face in black. The tonal range I think is just a tad short on the high end (missing a true white). Hmmm. I just noticed the threads in the hat. Those are white. Perhaps the B/W points are correct, but her eyes and teeth seem like they could be a little brighter. Just a thought. Best of luck to you in the challenge. |

what you see is what you getby honikumComment: Very nice alluring image. Composition is strong. Only complaint from me is the eyes beg to stand out...as is, the nose and upper lip are well focused but then it softens up around her eyes. JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge. |

Sugar, were going downby bmartuchComment: Hey. I just saw one of these a minute ago. :D Their's was a big splash, yours is a little splash. Hmmm. I think with the smaller splash you're losing some impact with all of the surrounding distractions. I would have cropped this in substantially and shown off that nice arc on the left side of the splash. The coffee cup is dirty - from prior attempts maybe? All JMO of course. :P Good luck in the challenge. |
