5 a dayby SoulMan1978Comment: I like the subject/food choice overall. The yellow tint of the bg is killing this for me. The clear dishes with a white (heck, I'd even try black just to see) bg might be more appealing. All JMO of course. :-) Good luck in the challenge. |

F R E S H !by bubeltrubelComment: Yeah! A salad image that's pretty well done. I like the tongs coming into the image with the complimenting lower bowl. Lighting may be a tad harsh on the lower bowl and greens. Would like the bg to be whiter...looks yellowish. Overall, nicely done. |

Berry Yummyby LimboComment: Nice approach. Ok, so it's a "simple" shot, very stock photo-ish...but I like it. :-) Sharp with good detail. I also like how the near-side fork tines are reflecting back red. Probably should have tried to minimize/eliminate the shadows some. Overall nicely done. |

alf alfa shake.by kmtregoeComment: Missed on the focal point. The bottom edge of the container and the back wall are sharp, the sprouts (whatever you call them) are OOF. Not sure how you can make this particular food product interesting. Maybe more of a closeup for some detail? Anyway...good luck in the challenge. |

Good Ol' Italian Foodby prosserwmComment: What are the pills for? Texture of the towel is distracting. The "food" is nearly dry...I'd make it very wet for better impact I think. Maybe on a white cutting board or something? Just a thought. |

Petite Ensalade avec Fleursby IndigoButterflyComment: Nice arrangement. Lighting is quite harsh. At this distance from the subject, the sprigs in the back half should be in focus also IMO. Line in the upper right, behind the table, is a distraction (move the table on change the POV). Max size allowed for challenges is 640; you didn't use all of it? |

Dutch saladby hajekaComment: The front sprigs are a nice touch. The salad is "ok"...something about the image is lacking a wow factor. Maybe it's the reflections on the glass bowl? It's not a "bad" photo, just not very "exciting/interesting". All JMO of course. :-) Good luck in the challenge. |

Lunchby tryingtostayinfocusComment: A nice arrangement. The shallow DOF isn't helping this IMO. Feels like you missed and the focus should be either more on the front fruit or that a higher aperture used to include more. |

Odd pairs in an otherwise even sea of wheatby mitalapoComment: Good eye to see this. It's a pleasant photo. I like the color tones. Would have like it a tad more if the top had been cropped down to lose that sliver of blue, and if you'd spent 2 seconds to get rid of the sensor dust spot. Overall, nicely seen and captured. Good luck in the challenge. |

Water Spoutby J-MeComment: Just read your comments...you really shouldn't be such an optimist! :-D Looks like it did pretty well for you overall. One thing that probably dinged the score on this (was mentioned in several comments) was the lemon. Looking at the shot overall it appears to me that an overly healthy dose of NI (or some other noise reduction tool) was applied. Yes, no?
Anyway. Congrats on a new image in your PB lineup. :-) |
