Salty by ZigomarComment: Those letters are so large and contrasty that it almost seems like text worked in via photoshop or something. :-) I know it's not...just an observation. The LB is perfect for making this shot work in the environment it's taken. Without the blur the background would become an issue. Maybe with something extremely shallow you could get close to this, but I still think the LB was absolutely the right tool available here.
Good eye to see this and capture it so well. |

No passingby MelethiaComment: Ok - I want to know how this photo can be viewed 11 times without a comment?
This is perfect in B/W. I really like the grit of the road and the various lines in this image. Well seen and captured...even if the cars are on the wrong side of the road. :-P |

Across the vineyardby MelethiaComment: This photo makes me think of something European - then I realized you ARE a European! :-) I'm reading a book that at times has provided me with a mental picture quite similar to what you've captured here. How cool is that?! :-D
I like how the LB blur makes you feel like you're moving into this image and that the sweet spot is the destination. |

Oh So Tomorrowby datcatComment: This photo is a "thinker". Several scenarios and potential storylines going on. What's the guy in the window doing there and what is he looking at? Is he bored, is he a lookout for something nefarious, does he live there? The building on the right. Dark, brooding, approaching disrepair. What's the neighborhood like? Is it older and run down as the upper level of these buildings indicate, or is it a street with character and warm, charming people?
Very interesting indeed! |

Corner Bankby datcatComment: This building actually looks familiar to me. Was this location used for a DPChallenge entry in the last few months?
As for the photo itself, I like seeing LB shots with some distance once in awhile, and with some people. The lighting is pretty strong (appears to be midday), although it's not overexposed or anything. In this case a LB is the right choice. I don't think this shot, at this time of day, with a normal lens would have much impact. JMO of course. :-) |

Red Lightby GermaineComment: Given the title and the people hanging out in the doorway, this feels like it's taken in a seedy part of town, i.e. Red Light District. :-) |

Midnight Ramblerby GermaineComment: This is actually quite intriquing. I like the waves being visible in the background, and that the person is easily identified in human form yet anonymous. The noise in this doesn't bother me at all, and actually works just fine. Curious, what would you use Photomatix for on this photo? |

Photographing Photographers Outtake - 5758.jpgby citymarsComment: If this outtake made it past the 3 second viewing period most take during voting, you probably would have done better with it. :-) I'll leave the observation that made me smile to myself and let anyone else that passes by this to make their own. :-P |
