Pebble beach at dawnby markwileyComment: You did well with this, but I thought it would finish even higher! Tied for 1st place in my votes (gave it a 9).
Beautifully composed, with great use of leading lines to bring you around the entire image coming back to the rock pile as the main subject. Nice control of the tonal range for this B&W image. Great timing on catching sun rays as the sun rises above the treeline. Even the clouds in the sky participated by filling in the upper left image space without overwhelming the image in general. The feather? Well, that's just a bonus. :-) |

"Good Fences Make Good Neighbors" Mark Twainby GolferDDSComment: Glad to see this made the Top 10, but I had it picked much higher. My top pick (voted 9) for this challenge (fish bowl 2nd). Something about the layers in this and the B&W choice that made this, IMO, fit the challenge quite well. Nicely seen and captured. |

Swiss Guard, Vatican Cityby flahermaComment: 47th? For real? Hmmm. Well, I had this picked near the top (tied for 2nd - gave it an 8). The guys smile is so charming, and I like the tension of the composition. Well, I guess I do have one nit that I overlooked when taking time to really study it beyond the person ... and that is the framing; some may have thought the overhanging piece of the building (above the gentleman) was distracting. Maybe a little tighter crop? Who knows. Anyways - on first viewing I liked it (still do!). :-) Message edited by author 2019-10-08 06:52:59. |

Fisherman, Rock Harborby Bear_MusicComment: Surprised to see this not break the Top 10. FWIW I really enjoyed it and it was tied for 2nd place with my selections (gave it an 8). I love the color and the silhouette of the intriquing. Only nit, in hindsight after seeing it again now, is the foreground seems muttled and more brown than black. Nonetheless - well seen and captured. |
