Art, how did you do the left eye? it changes the image quite a bit. also, can you elaborate on hair pp?

LOL - well, I tried to darken the left eye a little, but part of the iris was really blown, so I used a circular mask with 2px feather on the right eye just around the iris and copied it onto the left. Coulda done better with the full size image, but oh well. Sometimes I have fixed a partially blown iris by selecting (with feathered mask) around the blown iris, then subtracting the pupil and subtracting the blown part, then copy/paste onto a new layer and rotate it so essentially you use one part of the same iris to rebuild the blown part.

The hair: Clone the wirey strays, use liquify and push/reshape the hair with a large diameter bursh, starting from a bit of a distance away from the edge of the hair and just pushing it in slightly. This caused some of the background to warp in, leaving transparent holes around parts of the edge - just painted that in with the bkg color afterwards.

How about this?

His parched soul, swelling like a desert root,
Broke out its delicate dream upon the air;
The mountains shook with earthquake under foot;
An angel seized him suddenly by the hair;

an excerpt from Alec Derwent (A.D.) Hope, Australian poet, 1907-2000, which I found here.

(also chuckled at the username of who posted it)

I love the image, Alicia! "Parched Soul" was the first thing that popped in my head and it's what I googled for.

Terrific! Another scene from a dream - a bit surreal to me.

Steve - was viewing one of the others in your series and this thumb caught my eye again. I think it is worth salvaging. I did a quick retouch on it and uploaded it here - you will see the retouched version, mouseover to see the original. I tried not to go too "plastic" and left some of the lines around her eyes that I think actually are a positive attribute to her appearance. A little cloning & healing on the chest, cloning over the random hairs and a little liquify/reshaping of the hair as well. If you worked on the large version, you could probably come up with something better. I don't know how you feel about retouching to this extent - if you don't care for it, consider this my own exercise. :)

I think the photography aspects & technicals are all great - lighting, focus, etc. Not sure about her expression though - she looks like she's smiling grudgingly. Love the eyes though.

I heard they were very egotistical animals. That's how they got such big heads. :P
This is really good. An awesome image of a magnificent beast at rest. Well done.
