So nature's old and men are new. Yes, I like that interpretation. I don't know how to link the birds to it, but for the rest, your picture is very interesting. The boat in the background is a nice detail. I don't like the centered horizon though. Cropping off some of the bottom and off the top would have given you a perfect rule of thirds. 9.

Nice shadow work. The composition is not that harmonic though...evrything is in that one diagonal line. And the shadow in the upper left corner belongs to no object inside the frame and is thus distracting. 6.
