food is very difficult to photograph in an appealing way. I've never tried my hand at it myself, but for this I'd try to get the light from front (not back) and focus on the salami and let the rest blur (using a large aperture). I think white (or plain) dish would work better, same with the tablecloth. photog's who do this for ads use all kinds of tricks, like hairspray, steam and usually rend the food inedible. Good luck
