Yeah, I can get the "wintery smell" from this. Wouldn't matter though; I love this shot. Lighting, color, composition and overall feel of this shot are wonderful. Meets the challenge in a very subtle way, though I imagine many peeps won't think so. This gets a 10 from me strictly on the aesthetics.

A beautiful shot. I adore the black and white, and love the way you captured the spray from the perfume. The lighting is absolutely sensational. If I were going to change anything: Instead of cropping the rest of her face out of the shot, I would love to have seen the top part of her face, and also some of her hair with the light glinting off it. But then that would be a different shot, wouldn't it?! Great shot, I do love it. 10

Nice color and detail, and there is kind of a "graininess" to the image that I really like. Composition is such that you have enough of a tonal range to make it interesting.

Unquestionably aromatic. Would like to have seen enough light on the subject to remove the distracting shadow on the right side. Not terribly visually appealing, and not something I would hang on my wall, but it sure meets the challenge!

I like the wavy line pattern. The bean itself seems to be out of focus, though, and I think I would have liked to have seen the bean in sharp detail, and the background out of focus. I think the composition would have been more effective with several beans, or a small pile of beans, rather than the one lonely little bean.

Though this is definitely a "still life" shot, it's not what I would expect in a still life challenge. The shot definitely carries a very subtle irony with it if you consider the challenge, the shot itself, and what it says on the wheelchair, and that does make it intriguing. I don't, however, particularly care for this shot - it just doesn't have a lot of visual appeal for me, and with photography, that's what it's about for me - I like for a photo to have enough appeal that I am drawn to look at it over and over again. (LOL, Yes, I know, the same "lack of appeal" could be said about my own photography, but that's why I am at dpc - to learn!)

I haven't read the book, but it doesn't matter. This shot is wonderful, and I rated it well. The black and white is perfect, and I love the emotion in the shot. To me, the point was to get across, not so much just the title of the book, but the essence of the book, and this shot makes me want to read the book.

I love this one! The colors are beautiful, the composition works well, and I think it fits the challenge. It has a very "abstract" feel (which I think is very nice!), and has such a "soft focus" feel to it , and generally speaking, those don't go over very well at dpc. But, I don't think that you should worry much about the voters - this is very nice work -I would be proud of it!

The Chapel

I really think that I would love this, except for the distorted perspective. It has a very "Alice in Wonderland" feel to it that kind of takes away from the feeling of "sacred place". I like the composition, and the way the chapel is in shadow against the backdrop of the sunny sky and trees. This looks like an adorable little place.
