Inner Harborby kevinfComment: this might seem like a wierd comment but i really wish the photo was longer, feels a bit tighly cropped on the sides. |

Evening mistby johnmkComment: very nice but the bright yellow lamp on the bottom left and birhgt yellow car on the bottom right are stealing attention from the rest of the photo imo. |

Portrait of a Lonely Pugby brianlhComment: Your editing has been very effective. I would say that your original suffered a lot from over exposure problems (blown highlights, and generally low contrast) but you have suceeded in turning that shot into an successful artistic high key photo. The burning and dodging really brings out the eyes and the whole face in general, where as compared with the no dodge/burn version the focal point seemed to be majorly on the nose.
You do dodge/burn a bit differently that i do, but there is no right or wrong way of doing things (though i would say yours is 'righter' than mine) and the results should be pretty much the same. Maybe i'll try your method sometime :-)
PS - my way of doing dodge/burn doesnt involve layers, i just do it directly on the photo with the brush tool... it is more destructive, and harder to modify but its just the way im used to. |

The Foyer by CutterComment: beautiful, has a lot of technical elements such as the leading lines, repeating shapes, the slight reflection, the shadows and the light coming through the center... but ultimately its just a really beautiful shot that makes this inanimate space come alive |

Insomniaby tazzaComment: very good use of light and shadows. two things i might have changed would have been removing the clock since its so near to the edge that it is more of a distraction rather than narrative element, and imo the tungsten torchiere lamp since it is a different color of light could have been off. But then again the photo is about how the room was at that moment in time. |
