the stop-action here is good, but the DOF is too deep. in sports action, you want the focus to be entirely on the subject, with as little background clutter as possible. here, my eye goes from the ball to the player to the background. also, the border is unnecessary.

david is a little too out of focus. with a longer lense, you could get this shot without the net being so much of a distraction. the action looks good, but the focus takes away from the image.

this could be interesting, if something was in focus. i absolutely hate shooting through fences, and have found the only way to get anything close to decent is with at least a telephoto lense, manually focused (the AI always seems to want to latch onto the fence). the colors and subject are interesting, but the end result here is less than optimal.

too blurry for me to enjoy. i do like the colors, and think the venue and angle have possibilities, but, all the same, for sports action photos, i like them absolute stop-action.
