Authorityby speaseComment: not quite sure what to say here. yes, you have a symbol of authority, and it is also obvious that you have a decent camera. i also think this image could use some work. the lighting is fine, except for blowing out the edge of the badge--that is a major distraction--the textures are undone by the badge. also, i can't tell what is in the foreground. it has an interesting pattern, but beyond that, it is not really adding anything to the image. i think you had the makings of producing a good image, and would definitely recommend revisiting it to see if you could pull out something a bit stronger. |

I'm the boss here!by gedisaComment: having two cats, i appreciate the sentiment. as far as images go, though, this comes across more on the snap-shotty side of things. |

No translation neededby RUEDISCHMUTZComment: as far as meeting the challenge (signs all around us, telling us what to do), you have done that. i think it would by a more dynamic, interesting image, though, if it included something other than the sign. |

No Authority without moneyby greslizzzComment: not quite sure what to make of this image. i understand the logic of the title, but not the symbol of the candle. without the title, i would not really consider this an image of authority. don't know if you used a tripod or not, but i think the coins could be a bit sharper. interesting colors produced by the candle light. this might just be a case of the right image in the wrong challenge... |

Electric Meterby kittenfcComment: this is one of the more interesting interpretations of the challenge. i think it would be much more powerful with a deeper depth of field, as well as if you'd shifted the focus a little more towards the sign. good luck! |

U N Flag.by H R VerryComment: i don't know how you compressed this, but you have got some serious artifacting going on...wow! yikes. kinda hard to get past it.
ok, better now. interesting choice of a symbol of authority. maybe in a perfect world, they would be. but, then again, in a perfect world, we probably wouldn't need them... |

Badge For Those In Blueby birdyblueComment: while i can get what you're shooting for, i think the execution could be a little stronger. if you had rotated the badge another 10-15 cw, leaving the lighting the same, i think it would be much more dynamic. as is, it looks like a badge, laying on its side.
[not that it matters to me from a voting standpoint, i think the title could use a little work as well.] |

Young Chiefby undieyatchComment: his expression looks like he means business. focus and lighting are fine. i think a stronger title, like "Do You Really Want to Question Me?" might have helped. if you look at this long enough, you really do start to feel that the image has captured the essence of authority; i just hope that the voters will stop long enough to look. good luck. |

Lights of Justiceby DefyTimeComment: this is a cool shot. the clarity you achieved without blowing anything out is outstanding.
[note: the weird thing is, the only thing i have a problem with is the title. justice is a result of authority being applied. i'm not going to vote this down because of the title, but i do tend to consider the title as part of the whole package. i do vote images down if their only tie to a challenge is through the title, but that is not the case here.] |
