Ebenezer CorkScrooge by scalvertComment: alright shannon! great job with the lighting. guess it would look better with a bit more blue and a little less red, but hey, a ribbon's a ribbon! way to go! |

Red Hot Chanukahby maxjComment: nice entry, max, sorry it didn't finish higher. it got a 7 from me. i think you might have been voted down for over-processing. while pleasing to some (i like it, neil liked it), most voters want the vivid colors to also include razor sharp photographic detail (for example check out the ebeneezer corkscrooged entry in hidden faces. i know that will be a top 10, and wouldn't be surprized if it doesn't blue.) all the same, keep shooting! good luck!

"Hidden Face"by tfarrell23Comment: i think i see a face hidden in the stone near the top left. if that's the case, i think you would have done better to crop in a bit closer so as to draw the face out and not leave it hidden from the viewers (remember, you typically only have 2-3 seconds to grab a voter's attention). all the same, a pleasant image. good luck! |

Happy Olivesby GatorguyComment: ok, you are definitely on the right track! the composition is fine, even if a bit documentaryish. what is hurting you here is the lighting. this is a very clever idea, and with a little more execution, you'd easily be 1-2 pts higher. good luck! |

A Peek from Beneathby brooklynComment: even though the image quality is poor, this is still one of my favorites in the challenge. hopefully, you'll get enough comments to learn from. the composition is nice, but the colors are a bit dull. the pixelation can be controlled a bit in the editing process, but it might be that you are asking a bit more from your camera that it is capable. all the same, nice find, and, if this doesn't score where you wanted it to, don't be discouraged. just keep on shooting! |
