Zen Bokehby breckinshireComment: while this image meets the challenge, i'm not quite sure what you are after with it. it isn't really grabbing me and moving me in anyway. as i view it, i'm left feeling that you have shown me that you can technically produce bokeh, but i don't feel that you are really doing anything with it. sorry if this harsh. |

Queen Anne's Laceby scrum8Comment: nice, pleasant image with a good bokeh. the colors are sublime, and the detail suberb. i'm getting cold just looking at this! good job, and good luck! |

Wicked Spiderby Mark of SRQComment: WHAT IS THAT?!?!? i know there are a lot of things i haven't seen before, and this is one of them. wow. you got my attention. yes, you also have a bokeh effect, but it is a bit busy (a little burning and gaussian blur could help that, though). normally, i'm not a big fan of centered subjects, but it works here. good luck! |

Nice Legs, Great Bouquetby eggvComment: interesting take on the challenge. i love the mood you've created, but somehow, it feels a little flat, lacking warmth. i also think the bottle could have been a big closer to the glass, and that the top of the bottle is a bit too close to the top of the frame. you have done good work here, but, taking advantage of advanced editing rules can make whole point differences in these challenges. i like the leg showing through the glass, but don't like all the other distracting reflections in the glass. it took a while for the glass beside the model to register with me; maybe a 1/3 to a 1/2 f-stop adjustment would have allowed the same background effect, but have brought her glass into the image a bit more. cheers to taking a risk! good luck! |

Reaching For The Rainby ahazeComment: this is a beautiful image, and one of my favorites in the challenge. excellent bokeh. this image has the feeling of three kids, looking out the door, in anticipation of being told it's ok to go on outside to play. well done! |

Biker Bokehby gustoComment: like i'm going to have anything bad to say about this guy...
excellent portrait. your bokeh, though, is a bit busy and distracting from an otherwise powerful image. you would have done well, even if you had cropped off the left 20% of the image. keep in mind, good bokeh enhances the subject; you could probably revisit this with some minor burning and have a killer image. good luck! |

pine cone endsby camelotnorthComment: in this image, the shallow dof really leaves me wanting. there's not enough in part that is sharp for me to latch on to. this is more of an image that has some stuff razor sharp and a lot of stuff oof, and i can't tell what you want me to look at, or what type of reaction you want me to have. the bokeh is there, but it is not really doing anything to compensate for the blurry part of the subject. sorry if this is harsh. |

After the Freezeby eaglebeckComment: yes, you have achieved a bokeh effect...too bad your subject is not that interesting, at least in this composition. simplicity is the key. you want to get the viewer's attention with something appealing. even if you want to convey something like ice damage, if you work at it, you can find an artistic way to bring it across. here, you probably could have succeeded if you had cropped the image down to the area near the intersection of the frond and the undamaged one (to me, that is the most interesting part of the entire image). hope this helps some. |
