I wasn't even going to enter this challenge. I went to The Pelican Man's Bird Sanctuary to try to get a picture of a bird's talons, for the Alphabet Soup project. I failed to get a good one, but I did see this interesting spider. I believe it's a crab spider.

It wasn't easy to shoot because it was up high, so I had to reach up and try to hold the camera still, while getting a close up. The camera was actually very close to the spider, although it doesn't seem like much of a close up. Luckily it was a sunny day, so that, coupled with the wide aperture, enabled me to use a fast shutter to compensate for the shake that was definitely going on.

And yes the spider is real. Shocked the hell out of me when I saw it. A worker there saw me taking the picture and she thought I saw a special bird in the trees behind it. The background is either a clump of skinny trees, or very thick vines.

Great shot! It looks like a face with a red crown. Would you like to try putting some green, multiply layer for the background just for fun? I just wonder how it will look like. (I am thinking of Amilie movie.) : )

WHAT IS THAT?!?!? i know there are a lot of things i haven't seen before, and this is one of them. wow. you got my attention. yes, you also have a bokeh effect, but it is a bit busy (a little burning and gaussian blur could help that, though). normally, i'm not a big fan of centered subjects, but it works here. good luck!

For some reason I feel like I've seen this before. Weird deja vu. Anyway, good bokeh, love the bits of spiderweb that are highlighted and of course that weird spider is really something else. Great capture!
