A Simple Loveby ArtysteComment: honestly, my first thought was 'that's a big child'. it's appears (though i'm probably wrong) that you shot this with a wide angle and you were in just a bit too close. there's just something about the proportions that don't make this work for me. good job with the tones & lighting. |

Tangleby pcodyComment: this took me a while to 'untangle'. my eyes went immediately to the hip, and then wanted to leave the image. it might be that it's just a bit too much contrast. |

it's comments like these that pretty much keep me from even caring about entering... |

aLive Musicby filliComment: 'live music'? being performed by paper-mache dolls that include two dead people? interesting stretch take on the challenge. lighting is ok, but the image could be a bit sharper.

Acousticby hblakeComment: yes, vibrating guitar strings produce sound...but what were you hoping for here? that most voters would go along with you to consider 'sound' 'live music'? it's a nice enough image, but quite a bit of a stretch... |

Budding Artistby falcon_timeComment: i once heard a guy describing another photographer as one of the best he had ever seen. he said the guy's pictures were so telling, they didn't need captions. and that's my goal: to shoot images that fit a story and tell a story without a caption. to me, the challenge of dpc is to produce an image that there is no question about whether or not it fits.
here, you have a snapshot of a child with his mouth open. is he singing, smiling, or yelling? it's an interesting composition, but there is not telling what that is in front of his face that is catching the flash and throwing the shadow. the colors are interesting.

Plugged Inby johnnyComment: plugged in, yes, but turned on and being put to use? challenge aside, a guitar can be a great subject, but you need a strong focal point and composition. this could also be a bit sharper. |

Anthemby JinjitComment: cute, but looking a bit over-sharpened. very interesting take on the challenge, can't wait to see how this finishes up. |
