Post Challenge: Just wanted to thank everyone for their incredibly helpful and nice comments!

This is actually a self-portrait, and, to answer many of the comments left, the title is intended to be ironic. As i was trying to capture this with the 30 minutes left of available light, my husband (kongphooey) was asleep on the couch and our son was in the crib whining for me (it was his bedtime).

Added to all this was me trying to get the focus and self-timer right. It was a very tense moment for me. All i really wanted was a few minutes for myself to get a good shot.

I'm happy with the shot. Sorry I'm covering my breasts -- i just don't feel comfortable being "out there" like that!

Thanks again for your wonderful comments!!!

I like this very much, and as soon as I saw it I got the irony in the title and thought it was superb. Lovely image.

This is unfortunate that it got buried deep in the ranks. I personally gave this a 9 for the simplicity and "drama" of the image itself. the lighting and DOF are perfect.

I really thought this would finish much higher than it did. All I can figure is that when the guys didn't get to see bare breasts -- it diminished their voting thinking.

this should have done much better! I really liked it- I also had a problem with you covering your breasts but really only because it looked unnatural. maybe you could have rested one arm over them instead of holding. I especially loved the colors.

Yep, should have placed much higher. It's a very natural pleasant image with few faults. Was one of my favorites. :-)

I dont understand how this got so low, I love it

totally deserving of a highplacement - this is far better than some in the top20 imho. This was one of my faves :)

i really like the composition, the colors, the focus, the exposure, it is a great shot... it would've been nice if the model would have relaxed just a little. seems a little too tense, but that's understandable

Could use more DOF.

Relax is what the model needed to be doing. Her hands seem very tight and uncomfortable in this shot. The focus is nice and tack sharp.

Might be improved by cropping almost up to the shoulder.

Viewpoint with the shallow depth of field make this shot interesting. well done for submitting to this difficult challenge

I like the perfect use of DOP. Together with the pose they succesfully transmit and delicate and fragil feeling of relax. Just only the tense hands are appart from this relax message, I would have like more not to be so tense but probably it was deliberated and included in the message.
Anyway Great great work!! Good luck!

I hope that's not how she relaxes... If you wanted to say that she should relax, put an exclamation mark in the title.

Don't care for this shot over all too much, sorry. However, composition is cool, lighting is ok, freckles are very cool, the ring a little less so. I don't like the way she squeezes her breasts.

She needs to relax a little doesnt she? Probably all you could get out of your model Im guessing. Funny.

I like the dof here and also the soft, muted colors. Maybe just a tad bit of the face showing would be nice, even out of focus so it wasn't just a pile of hair. Background by her legs is very nice.

Great DOF on this photo. I think it is a good subject. I hope it does well, If this is a self portrait, I admire you for submitting it. Good luck.

fabulous focus, pity she does not really come across as relaxed. lovely skin tones and excellent use of DOF. bumping up.

Due to the skin coluration I think this photo would look much better in B&W. Also without the ring as this attracts too much attention.

Ilike the idea of how this photo is layed out. I think more hair would have been an improvement. Your model appears to have a red rash around the shoulders that is distracting . A soft warm overall look would have improved it for me.

The model doesn't feel relaxed to me... perhaps a better title would have been "feeling exposed"... 7

Hmmm...Title at odds with image. Subject seems very tense. So is the title a command/suggestion? Crop and composition are very interesting. I like them. Would have preferred a slightly larger DOF but the POV is excellent. Colors and lighting okay. 6 - good luck in the challenge!

Can't say what I like so much about this but I do. The ring is distracting though, it kind of takes away from the very organic feel I'm getting.

It is well exposed technically with the focus in the right place. There is a slight green tint to the picture on my monitor. The rings are a distraction. Imo, the crop is to tight cutting into both the elbow, hand and the breast.

Lovely image. I normally don't rate based on title, but it doesn't quite feel right. The hair being out of focus is fine with me, but the lock of hair in the center of the bottom is a bit distracting, and the glimmer of the giant rock on her finger is a bit distracting. However I dig the freckles and the pose. Good luck (7)

I like the DOF in this shot and the focus on her left hand. I would also like to see this shot in black and white since the color in this shot doesn't seem to add much to the photo.

I was about to pass this by hwne I noticed the glimpse of red hair, fair skin and freckles, and diamond ring (which I'm assuming has some significance). I see a fair number of shots from a similar perspective, but this is the first one that I have seen with such a personal and intimate impact. Very nice work, I hope it does well.

I like the angle of view. I think a solid bg would set this image off a little more. Nice focus and dof. Good luck!

She doesn't look very relaxed. The overall pose is very closed and stand offish

This is very pretty. I really like the composition and how it stretches from corner to corner. The focus on the hands is very nice, nice DOF. Very natural looking portrait. 8

The title is "relax" but I dont find anything relaxed about this image. She seems to be tense and clutching which spoils the shot.

Nice picture - I like the angle/perspective. I think it would be stronger if the hair/freckles were a bit more in focus. 8

Such wonderful freckles! Shallow DOF works well and pose too. I sort of like the lighting, but at the same time I wish the foreground highlights (her breasts, the bed) were whiter. Not sure if it's the blueish cast that's bothering me, or if they just need to be brighter. 8

I like the freckles and natural skin tone. The pose is a tad awkward but I still like it. Maybe crop out part of the blurred hair and then the clear portion of her body would be better emphasized.
