"I'm on top of the world"by red_geckoComment: great shot. the first thing that struck me on seeing the thumb was "too centered". the first thing after opening it up was "too small". if you had entered this full-size and composed with your subject a bit more to the left, you would have easily picked up a half point or more, and found yourself in the top 20. keep on plugging--you're getting there! |

Long Road Homeby SDWComment: it's a great idea, and you've gotten some good tips. these shots are difficult because there is so little that you can control (well, short of dropping stuff to make cars swerve).
you have to close your eyes and imagine what you're after, set it up shoot, then examine and make adjustments. if you aren't feeling 'wow', then go look somewhere else.
one of the keys to making this shot is the capturing the dynamics. here are a couple (although mine is nowhere near as good as mark's shot).
