You Pick the Texture?

You Pick the Texture?
by Tracy

Comment:
All of these products are good choices for texture... I think it would have been more interesting to show more of that texture by coming in closer... For instance, the cotton balls in the back have great texture, but the bag they are in doesn't really have that much. Maybe you should try taking a few out of the bag, putting them on the sand paper (after taking that out of it's package) and take as close up a shot as you can of them... It would be interesting to see this as a before/after post on the forums after the challenge is over. But that's just me...

This is an interesting photo with stong lines that draw my focus to the center. but once my eyes get there, they hit a blank wall... literially... The soft focus also washes away any texture that might be there. But that's just me :)

You know the wall is rough cause you were there... I can't really 'see' the roughness in the photo though. I think to make this shot work you would have needed to get your feet wet... literially... a close up of the water coming down the red part of the wall would be more interesting. Of course, that's just me.

You know... my wife SAID this was a frog... I'm not going to scare you with the list of what I thought it was. I gave it a 7 before I saw the thread and I'll leave it there. I liked the backlite (though the window doesn't really help)... Tell you what though, I'll give it an 8 if you promise never to post the color version :) Sounds real scary ~ But that's just me

This has got to be the most robbed shot of the week. Deserved MUCH better.

Interesting form with nice lines. However, I don't think that soft focus works well with texture. Also the washed out lower lrft hurt this shot for me. But thats just me :)

NOTE : Upon adjusting my monitor, I now see the soft focus was my monitor, not your photo... Sorry about that! Still a bit washed out on the left, but I'm bumping you 2 to a 6... Again, sorry!

I must apologize... I voted on this before I calibrated my monitor and thought it was a slightly better than average shot, but not very interesting... Seeing the true colors now, I'm bumping you from a 6 to an 8... The bright white spot near the upper left bothers me a little, but this is certainlt far above average.

This image improved greatly once I adjusted my monitor. Sorry about the low score all week, but I'm bumping you 1 point to a 5. I would have bumped you 2, but I hate the Mets :) Not fair? true... but neither is life :)

Great shot! It looks like you had to struggle a bit to remove somthing from the background (the diagonal on the left and the section right behind His head). It looks nearly the same color as His face. Maybe if you had moved a little more to your right and down just a smidgit it would have been eliminated? Of course I have no idea if that was possible or would have helped. Great shot none the less :)

This came out a little too snapshotish for me (not a bad thing). If you could have gotten an angle that had foliage where we see house in the lower right, I think that would have helped a lot. The lines of the fence are very promising and the expression on his face is priceless :) Also the crop is kind of close to the top of his head. This could have benefited from the "rule of thirds" as well. Look in the forums to a great link that JM put up. Your lucky to have access to such a great model :) ~Qyl~
