This is a super wide panorama with an attractive foreground with the sky as the main attaction. I would use less um with the silhoetted horizon. However, image is still strong enough to rise way above the average. Bumping up to bext level.

very nice and neat. The foreground subjects give it that casual travel guide look.

A lovely image with a good title. I do not particularly like burnt out areas, but in this case ir is so well balanced with the darkness on the left, giving it that artsy look. Bumping to next level, though this will be a hard sell for a travel guide.

certainly a winner and one that will end up high in this challenge. The curve, the earth, the lake and the gritty foreground invites the eye back again and again.

from the critique Club:

This was a very smart concept and even the choice for b/w was also wise. The only weakness is in the execution of the halo. Since the comp is okay and the photography is okay, let me concentrate on the effect.
The way to do this is to select the figure after you have done all the levels adjustments, etc. After selection, copy the layer. Copy your background and draw an oval with 40 or 60 pixel feather. One way to finish is to fill the oval with white and then reduce the opacity to your liking. Then you paste the layer of the girl you originally copied.

In essence, you have the actual background. On top you have a copy of the background and this layer is applied with just enough opacity to accentuate the halo. On top of this you paste the girl and the halo appears to come from the back while preserving the detail of the girl. This is superior to selecting her inversing and then fading. Since she is at a distance, you do not want to fade her hair, etc.

Outside of this, I think your image is very nice because the choice of the background is good and the pose is sweet and convincing. Further, even as is, the image conveys that unique fairy tale feel.
