dangerous water at the door stoop.

MemberKali
This gives me a sense of consternation. How the hell am I going to get out of this flood with a boat full of ice & snow?

Memberubique

Seems strangely two-dimensional (I mean literally, not necessarily figuratively). I'm ambivalent about it, I'm afraid.

Memberbobonacus

I like the lensbabyness that draws you to the boat ... it almost looks like the boat is in a puddle outside a house till you study it more!

Memberchromeydome
great color & tone, well composed, and I like the Lensbaby effect

Memberposthumous

the lensbaby helps, but I still don't get that feeling that it was made for lensbaby. It's a cool shot, though. But it hurts my head if I look at it too long.
MemberBernard_Marx
Personally, I do like lensbaby (and -type) shots. But the areas of blur and non-blur are not communicating anything to me here.

Memberdigifotojo
I could be wrong but, judging from the movement around the boat, this appears to be a slow shutter taken after dark. It has some interesting colors and textures and I do like the depth and reflection created by the water. It has a nice abstract feel to it.

Ok, it's a lensbaby shot...whatever that is.

I like simplicity of the image, the color, and tone.
The main appeal to me is the left half of the image, particularly the reflections of the boat and shutter in the water
I think I would prefer the image without the blurred vignetting effect.

Ilike the subject and placement, but am not a fan of the lensbaby type effect.

MemberBAMartin
I believe this must be a Lensbaby photo. I like the overall idea here and the blur adds to the overall effectiveness of the photo. (In other words, it draws me in and tickles my fancy)

MemberLydiaToo
Pretty cool... I'm not sure about the blur... but I like the composition and the subject... and the colors.

MemberNikonJeb
Dark, moody, & evocative..... Nicely done.

Two separate images that don't really mesh the way they've been combined. Too pragmatic.

MemberMephisto
thanks for the feedback everyone! if anyone feels like commenting again you can do that on the one in my portfolio:

Why B&W? I bet there's a lot of cool colors we (the viewers) are missing out on.
On the one hand I really like the 2 different perspectives but on the other I would've been satisfied with just the shot on the left.

I can't get my skull around extreme wide angle / spherical interior shots of buildings, especially domed and arched churches. Makes me feel like I'm trapped inside a balloon. However, this one has the attraction of being "de-sacreded", which is the best thing for them, in my view.

I'm not a big fan of wide angle interior shots of cathedrals. I've been in cathedrals and that's not what they feel like. Having two together isn't doing much for me, either.

MemberLes_Feck
If desecration is what what you're trying to portray, I'm not sensing it. If desacrated means something, its meaning eludes me.

Architecture, even in abandonment, can still be evocative.

Memberchromeydome
excellent technicals here, a challenging subject/environment. The dyptic is well done, also, but I think it almost seems clinical, documentary as a result of the dyptic treatment. The transition of perspective is slightly unsettling to me. This is a case where I think each image is strong, and each would do better standing alone. For the record, I have no bias against dyptics.

Memberundieyatch
Duo interior wide angle views of a decaying church. Appears in a logical condition due to abandonment, consolidation or simply a shortage of priests.

Memberwheeledd
I'm not normally a fan of dyptics; I usually think that the images distract from each other. But here they are really complementary. The rounded shapes echo across the two frames while the high and low viewpoints provides contrast.

"Desecrated" is the word you're looking for, be sure to fix it when you can. Unless it's an intentional misspelling, but I don't see the point in that myself.

Love the subject, but I'm lukewarm on the rendition of it, frankly. Technically quite nice, dealing witht hese contrast extremes is challenging.

MemberLydiaToo
Wow... this is someone I've never seen before. Very interesting and thought provoking... my imagination is running wild imagining it in its prime.

MemberBAMartin
What a glorious old building. I would give anything for an hour there. You have done justice to its glory.
