I agree. The composition isn't perfect. But I found composition at such close range really tough - that lens is quite heavy and I couldn't get the tilt of my cheap tripod quite right, so I'd have to start moving the legs to get it into a suitable position, then move the fork around a bit. When you're working with millimeters, you have to have a lot of patience to get the perfect shot, and it's been a tiring few days, so my patience wasn't that great. As far as lighting goes, I've still got a lot to learn.

Thanks fotomann. I can't believe it myself, considering I had to do it using manual focus, which is something of which I have very little experience and even less confidence.

Pretty impressive. I'm amazed your dog was prepared to co-operate on a shot like this.

Great photo. Pity it wasn't a week later.

I'm really enjoying your motion panning shots. Makes me want to go out and try, only I don't know where I could get anything decent - there's very little traffic of any nature outside my house.

The colours came out really nicely in the end.

Actually cooking and photographing is a good combination. I've got a few food photos in my stock portfolio and they do sell from time to time. Now if only someone around here liked cooking, I could add a whole lot more. Maybe I need to get some lessons - only I'd need someone to clean up after me, while I edit my photos:)

Wonderful image. I'm amazed you were able to get such a good composition from a moving train.

Beautiful image. I think the problem people are having with the fisherman relates to artefacts around him, as if that part of the photo has been sharpened more than the rest.
