Day 18 All Creatures Great and Small

I was looking forward for a whole week to taking pictures of the Mexican salamander, or axolotl, in the fifth grade classroom at one of my schools. They didn't come out very well - bad light, dirty glass.
But when I arrived at my other school in the afternoon, one of the girls came and showed me this baby mantis she had found. I took some photos - this one is on my little finger.

The thumbnail doesn't do this justice. Really nice macro.

Cool macro. His expression is very benign.

I love praying mantis's, they are one of the most attractive and interesting insects! This is outstanding, you've done the baby justice :-)

wow that is little!! My boyfriend took a mantis home with us once and took photos (too bad it was with my old point and shoot) its so cool the way they move! Maybe since yours was a baby it wasn't ready for fighting yet but ours had it's little arms up bobbibg and weaving like a boxer!
