Perfecting Perfectionby joannsComment: Nice painted background. Perhaps you could have moved a little left while taking the picture, and zoomed a little bit on the top ( to avoid the yellow on the top and the right). |

fear of the Supernaturalby sanandanComment: This image is of Lord Krishna, sittig on the lap of lord Ganesha, and the image was taken when this 16 feet idol was being painted (for a religious ceremony). Lord Krishna, is known for his mischiefs in his childhood and specailly "Raas Leela". I have been brought up in a (Hindu) religious family. So my child-hood has been mostly influenced by the stories of Lord Krishna and his child hood. I never had the freedom to do a lot of things that I wanted to do and the fear of the Supernatural powers predominantly constrained my thoughts associated with freedom to do all! This image of Lord Krishna (in his childhood) is a reflection of my dreams to have a childhood like his, as read in the religious stories. My apologies to all for touching a subject that may not interest most of the list members here. Thanks a ton to Lisae for encouraging! |

Chemistryby jaxxComment: Nice idea, I guess the composition could have been worked on more. The lack of breathing space on the rightcould have been more.6 |

bare necessitiesby sanandanComment: Thanks for your coments! I understand that none could get what I was trying to comunicate here. So I explain.... The image is of a Kerosene stove, and the tank of the old kerosine stove is shown in the image with the lid that is used to open and add kerosene. Since this is the most characteristic part of a stove, I took a close up and assumed that all those who have seen a kerosene stove would be able to relate to it. This image is shot on a street-vendor's cart in Bangalore (India) who sells roasted peanuts on the roadside. He uses old magazine paper/newspaper to make paper cones for packing the peanuts. So behind what you see as black is the image is the stack of magazines that he is going to use over the day. The black paper is interesting and I delibrately included it in frame because of what is written on it in the red. It says " Live with it". Hence the title bare necessities. The reason I entered this image in this challenge is that this is a product which is really old, but is still being used in its original form for earning a living. My interpretation of the challenge was that to shoot something that is really old, looks old but has some significance in the present context. |
