Nice shot. The wood shavings are a very nice touch. Good crisp photo. I think compositionally, is pretty good, but may be improved if the bottom of the plane were not quite so close to the bottom of the photo.

Wow, this is a great shot IMO. I love the dof you've got. Your choice of perspective makes for a very strong composition. It makes for very nice leading lines, the eye follows gently along, taking in the whole photo slowly and gracefully. Your title is perfect, simple yet telling the story or point of the photo along with the snow/ice present. Good, subtle shadows add to the mood. Very nice job, one of my favorites of the field.

NIce idea. I like using the negative space. Certainly fits the challenge well. But IMO it needs a deeper dof to show more of the pencil. Also, i think if the pencil were not quite so far in the corner, it would balance out a little stronger.

The composition is good here. I don't know if you were going for soft focus here, or it's just not in, but I don't feel it works in this case. Other than that, I'm not sure if I would call a candle mechanical?
