It is mercury indeed and it is sharp. But to me this looks more like a stock photo. It does help it a little though that it is an older thermometer and that it is not completely straight.

An ok composition but maybe slightly tight crop. The two 'diamonds' on the left facing same direction should not have been there as it just makes it look messy.

Looks good. But other than an appropriate crop and a black background I can't really see that it is very creative. It's a picture of an object.

If this had been a picture of a real black smith hammering away on iron it would obviously have scored much better.

I realize of course that most of us don't have black smiths in our neighborhood but I hope you also realize that this image then has to score less.

What a mess... I understand what you did and it is ok. It also looks good in b/w but it's just very messy and the milk carton just makes it look there is garbage in the picture.
I know you had to prove the calcium point but if it ruins the picture I would rather leave it out and let the voters figure out for themselves that the cookies are soaked in milk.

I'm very happy that you also did not just snap a picture of the rock but actually did something creative. The model has a great expression for the occasion and lighting is good. Composition is good also.
Clothing, hat and gloves are all appropriate for the setting.

There's been a few balloon pictures. I don't care to look at them and yours is no different. But you have shown some creativity by leaving some negative space (a good thing) and a crop that I don't think could get any better. It was also a good idea to leave the knot in the middle.
The red against a black background is good. But otherwise it is really not a good artistic photo.

Tungsten: Out of the Blue
