The Ever-Elusive Albino Squirrelby DefyTimeComment: Originally posted by laurielblack: In all of my 34 years, I have never seen an albino squirrel. How cool is that?!?! Great capture...excellent detail and focus. Wow! |
I still stand by that comment, however, now it's 35 years. I did manage to photograph an albino alligator, though. ;)
Great shot! |

The Foot of the Fallsby TelehubbieComment: What an awe-inspiring place that must be in person. I've never been to California, much less Yosemite, but it's on my list of places to see before I die. This image has wonderful composition. The movement of the waterfall brings the eye down to the lovely trees, and the diagonal of the mountainside gives it depth. I like the b/w treatment as well. Have you tried a boost of the contrast? It might cause the water to blow out, so don't mind me...I'm just a sucker for high contrast b/w. But regardless, this is truly a wonderful capture, worthy of printing. |

LIGHTH_1.JPGby TooCoolComment: This is stunning...the colors are so rich and gorgeous! I would suggest using the perspective tool and straightening up the lighthouse just a tad to the left...just to make it straight up and down. This would be great print material. Beautiful! ;) |

Aliso Creek Wipeoutby f-32Comment: Wow what a great action shot! I know that if that was my kid, I would have had 9 heart attacks by then... but kids are resiliant and flexible and fearless... whew! The composition of this shot is good; I might have cropped a tad off of either side (probably the right to keep the nice wave action on the left) to make the wave rider less centered, but that's not a huge problem...you don't get the opportunity to think about things like that with action like this! Nice clear focus, good colors, and good exposure. Well done!! :0) |

IMG_4486-geese-for-dpc.jpgby RayEthierComment: Heheheh I love geese. Actually all birds, but geese are so funny and they are quite photogenic. You've captured these two well. I like the off-centered composition, the natural environment, and the variety of colors and textures in the shot with the flowers, the water, and what appears to be a nice setting sun by the colors in the reflections on the pond. I'm sure that in a larger size it's even more lovely. Great eye for capturing such a pretty scene! :) |

Headed Homeby GeneralEComment: I can see where you're coming from with the title and the connection to darkness...it's unfortunate that the average DPC voter doesn't make the kinds of connections necessary to do so in an average 2 second viewing. The large patch of light is enough for most to say "DNMC" and click the 4 or below. I like the composition; the left side feels a bit crowded from the pillar running along there. I think if you had shot it at twilight, a step or so more to your right, this image would have scored higher for you. :) |

Crackedby ShannonComment: This is a lovely composition. I like the diagonal movement, and the contrast between the types of ground. The tones are nice as well. Great eye for capturing this! :o) |

Kitty on a Pedestalby ShannonComment: Hehehe this makes me giggle out loud! I love kittens. Most of them act as if they are on a pedestal, even if they aren't. ;)
This shot has nice, even lighting and is well-exposed. As a personal preference, I would like to see the eyes in sharper focus. You might try selecting just the area right around the eyes with the lasso or the elliptical marquis tool, then feathering the selection, and applying a little more USM to them to bring them more sharpness. Great shot!! :) |
